My Main Problem When It Comes To Writing Stories · 1:40am Oct 5th, 2017
There is a method for writing a story where before you write it, you make a draft that shows the characters, plot, tone, and how the story will go.
I unfortunately, go by what Akira Toriyama does, I write not really knowing what will happen next. I know how it will begin, some of the major plot points in the middle, and the end, but for all the stuff in between, I find myself not knowing what to do. I can tell the some of the best stuff on here has that planning. All of my stuff has been "I like this idea and the fragments that I have thought of, I will start writing right away."
I know I should do something like that, but I just get so excited to write it down.
You just need to write it all down, and then go back and edit it again, so it makes more sense.
While this does slow down publishing it, and is more prone to mistakes while copy/pasting (like I seen people fail at the editing of rewrites and it's not pretty), a few changes and rewrites later you should have better story, as long as the actual story is not overly long, or is split up in self contained arcs/episodes of story.
That said if you do that you be writing the same story like 3 times over, and that burns you out a lot. So you probably should get some beta readers to help you.
