Daring Do and the Red Shoe Diary

For years, since nearly the start of the series' rise to international fame, the rumors have persisted: Was there an adult-oriented Daring Do story? Has our intrepid explorer gone down paths far more sordid and saucy than her audience could have imagined?

New Red Shoes Chapter is Live!

After far too long of a hiatus, Red Shoes is officially back with a new chapter!

This time, we'll be hearing from the co-owner of Sugarcube Corner, who has a saucy but sympathetic tale to tell.

I hope you enjoy, and let me know in the comments. Cheers, all!

    Red Shoe Diaries: The Return

    *blows the dust off*

Yikes. I let this sit for way, WAY too long. As I'm typing this I'm realizing it's been 4 years, since this story last updated. That's horrendous, and also entirely my fault. True, lots of life has happened to me, and then there's the world going mad besides. But still, I should NOT have let this story lapse like this. For that, readers, you have my apologies.

    Happy Thanksgiving!

Been with family most of the day, but wanted to pop in and wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving!

This has admittedly been a crappy year for me, but I AM very thankful for all of you. Your support means the world, and I'm glad y'all are here.

In the comments, let me know what your fave Turkey Day desserts are!

*Achievement Unlocked* Drive faster than 100mph! :pinkiegasp:

Not the best clip ever, but that's yours truly behind the wheel of a Nissan GT-R Track Edition, running down the front stretch at about 105! :rainbowdetermined2:

This has been on my personal bucket list for a long time, but I finally had a good (and safe) opportunity to do so! Thanks to social media, I was made aware of a locally-run company that puts on performance driving experiences, using tracks in and around the region, and all for very reasonable cost. The staff are all trained racers, many of them on the semi-pro circuits. And the cars are all legit and track-prepped for oval and road course use.

After a classroom session, one of their instructors rides shotgun and coaches as you drive. Talk about learning on the job!

The GT-R was actually the second car I tried that day. The first was a 911 GT3. Both beautiful cars, and both very, very fast. I'm sure I wasn't pushing the cars nearly as hard as they could go, but damnit it was still fun as hell! (esp. when the GT-R's turbos spooled to full bore and launched us out of corners like a canon round)

All said, it was a blast! And the adrenaline rush is just beyond words. Definitely something I'll have to do again!

Very cool! This has been on my bucket list for a while too, What track were you at? And what is "reasonable"?

Score! I'd love to drive one of those cars. Glad you had a real thrill with that pair of exotic beasts!

Although I shouldn't be too envious; I've been topped out at 270km/h (or about 167mph) in a V8 Holden Commodore Supercar. Those things are scary.

Okay, that is badass.

Was Rose riding shotgun? :rainbowdetermined2:

Not this time, sadly. They wanted pockets empty of all items, just to ensure nothing became a flying projectile if something bad happened.

A Commodore? Nice! Those became the Chevy SS here in the states. Only ran for a couple of model years, but they were beastly cars for sure!

Track was Gateway Motorsports Park, located in Illinois, just east of St. Louis. It was a bit over an hour for me to get there, but an easy trip to/from.

As for cost, you can see details here. I took an additional charge to upgrade the insurance above what they give you by default, but not factoring that, I drove both cars for a bit less than $350. (I got a small discount for doing a second booking on the spot)

Imo, that compares favorably to something like Bondurant, which runs well over $500 for simple 1-day experiences. Well over $1K for higher grade stuff.

Makes sense! That’d be an interesting mortician’s report. “Subject died of a plactic pony hoof to the frontal lobe. At least he died how he lived.”

It wasn't the car that did it. It was the 100mph brohoof. xD
