shhhhhhhhhhhh just breaking the site again don't mind me

very, very, very experimental fic continues its slow progress as the deadline for bicyclette's sci-fi contest draws near. these chapters are about on-par with what if in terms of length, but oh boy have they been an interesting experience to write.

hey hey btw i've got a (couple of) public minecraft server(s)!

yeah so anyway here is my webbed site lol. there's an MC Classic server for building whatever, and an MC Beta 1.7.3 server for playing survival. I might eventually also put up a modern vanilla server as well, though given how I'm hosting a bunch of servers already for friends and a couple of discord servers, idk if the little slab of a PC I'm using to host 'em all would be able to manage lol.

summer break is almost here :V

basically got one week left lol. got an experimental fic in the works that's a sort-of direct sequel picking off right where Splintershard ended. no prior reading is necessary.

MAN it's been a while since I've toyed with writing styles.

(Not So) Daily Blog #48 · 3:53am Sep 11th, 2017

I did not build my PC to get hundreds of frames per second only to have the freakin' server lag instead.

Random Fact: Mineplex probably runs its servers off of a potato rack. Probably. Either way, they're pretty much one of the laggiest (and biggest) Minecraft server to exist.

I'm pretty sure that the shopping cart on top of that Smith's market was from the neighboring TJ-Maxx store that's outside of the image. Smiths had greyish-green carts, but TJ-Maxx has bright red carts. So somehow, someone not only tossed a shopping cart on the roof, but they tossed a shopping cart from a different store up there. Why? I have no idea. Utah stuff, I guess.

Just as quickly as my homework piled up, it's suddenly pretty much gone *poof*. Like as in, all it took was a unit change. Finished up advanced Algebra in Math, started Geometry, and suddenly everything took literal seconds for the teacher to explain completely. At least I've got plenty more time on my hands now.

Looks like I haven't shrugged off piano lessons after all. Though, instead of continuing lessons myself, my dad asked if I could teach my little brother the basics instead of having to pay my old teacher another 120-something a month for weekly lessons. And speaking of which, my parents are definitely glad to have some extra money to save up. $120 a month is definitely gonna be a good college savings plan.

I constantly joke about my framerate compared to the server lag and my horrid internet speed when I'm playing Minecraft. The thing is, it doesn't even annoy anyone. They just agree that Mineplex is universally laggy, and nobody can do anything about it.

As I type this, I'm doing my Chinese homework-- just writing some basic phrases and characters out. It's probably a good thing that my teacher complemented my handwriting during class, considering how many strokes some characters have. Like my chinese name. One of the characters in it aren't even recognized as an actual character, even though my dad wrote my name down specifically for me to remember it. Oh well, not that Google Translate would actually know how to translate characters that are seemingly nonexistent anyways.

Building off of the previous paragraph, my Chinese teacher omitted a single stroke from said character just so it'd be easier for her to type it into her computer, 'cause apparently that single character is one line away from being a computer-recognizable character.

In English, even though I've done a lot more writing since the last time I took the SRI (Scholastic Reading Inventory), I've noticed that I've had a steady drop in my average Lexile score, going from around 1150-something to the high 1140's. I'm pretty sure that this may be due to how I've pretty much stopped reading anything besides Sci-Fi/Adventure altogether. My teacher's recommendation? Read some biographies. They've got nice, big words. And I have to anyways, 'cause that's my next assignment.

I've noticed that recently, I've gone from writing dozens of chapter updates on Fimfiction to writing blog after blog on just slice-of-life things that I encounter.

It doesn't matter who you are, what you look like, or what you're doing, but all it takes to befriend my dog is a single belly rub. And then he'll keep on barking at you no matter what because you keep opening the back door. Or front door. Or really any door in existence that's not in my room, 'cause that's pretty much where he spends 90% of his time sleeping.

My dog's already middle-aged, if you're going by dog years. It makes sense that he's always sprawled across the carpet snoozing. Once he was sleeping next to the bathtub. Probably because the air conditioning vent was next to it though.

Even though I haven't been writing much recently, I've still been trying to mentally plan out certain events in some stories just for the sake of making them less awkward once written down. For example, killing off main characters but not killing them at the same time. Why? Because I got bored, and wanted a twist. I still haven't published the fic about that yet, though if you've read the bonus chapter of Lab Horse, you'd probably know what the specific fic is about...

(Speaking of which, the reason why it's unpublished still is because at its current point, pretty much the only thing relating it to MLP is the fact that Gadget is in it. Change her name and character and it becomes an original story. Also, it's so dialogue-intensive that it's actually looking quite a bit like the old script-formatted drafts that I used to write of my stories before I dumped the format altogether. I want to get some worldbuilding done before publishing.)

I was hoping that by syncing my phone's notifications to my PC, I'd be able to reply to messages and emails without having to open any other apps or turn on my phone. Guess what? I have to do exactly that still. Why? Because Windows Store has pretty much no support for Google Apps like Google Hangouts.

Yes, I'm one of the select handful that still use Google Hangouts, even though Google's pretty much killed it off at this point. I just find it convenient. And also maybe because it was the earliest form of texting my friends that I had back when I made my Gmail account in third grade. So I've got a lot of stuff on it.

Ever try running Minecraft on a netbook? How about a netbook that was so cheap that the manufacturer doesn't seem to even care about the existence of it anymore? That's the Acer Aspire V5-122p for you. A sucky AMD APU from before AMD turned itself around, combined with integrated graphics that even Intel puts to shame, which is kinda ironic, considering how a dual-core APU with Radeon graphics is beat by a single-core CELERON with less RAM and integrated graphics that only support OpenGL 1.2.

To be fair, the Celeron's running at 2.2 ghz, while the duel-core APU is running at 1 ghz per core, but usually thermal-throttles itself down to ~300mhz. Either way, don't run Minecraft on the APU. The netbook's fan becomes louder than my air conditioning vents.

I still think that I should change my logo/avatar to include some more symbolism compared to its current design language that builds off of something I made 2-3 years ago.

I'll stop this blog here. Yeesh, it's like I've got a more interesting life than my own OCs do or something. And yet I still find myself being bored.
