I watched way to many episodes of "Friendship is For Mentally Advanced". So my story "The Mare With a Dragon Tattoo is kind of like that, I was trying to create Twilight Sparkle with a bit of realistic outlook in life. In this fanfic Twilight doesn't care about Nightmare Moon, and to her just like for everypony else she is just a Boogymare story thats been told to little children. The reason Spike doesn't address Moondancer at the beginning is because there is no need to do so. Their friendship already grown so much that they took it to the next level. However Princess Celestia has already put all the chess pieces in the place, but she wasn't prepared, for a single variable. What if Twilight Sparkle would take somepony extra with her? How would the elements of harmony react to that? Now her plans might as well be in ruins. And whats this, I am already assembling an Avengers team without providing extra origin stories? Gasp. Think of this as Twilight Sparkle origin story,
