    I hate the flu

    I was working on a request, trying to fix it, and the next chapter for Compatibility and I fall freaking sick because my sleep schedule got messed up (through circumstances unrelated to the request and update). I just want one year where I can write uninhibited. I'm gonna take some meds and try to sleep it off for a few days.

You'll forgive me for my ignorance, but... what's the big deal? I know being in the featured box is a big deal, but is it mandatory for people who were in the featured box or popular stories sidebar to put that in the descriptions of their stories? Or is it more of a celebratory thing for the author? I'm just so confused. I see fics that say "Featured: 9 Oct 14" and my only thought is "That was years ago, why should I care?" I know that sounds mean, I think FF and AO3 have made me kinda bitchy tbh, but it's just so baffling for me, I suppose I haven't fully wrapped my head around the importance?
