While this has already been told by other blog posts, the death of Peter Sallis, best known for providing the voice of the titular character in the iconic “Wallace and Gromit” series is really a downer for me.
And not just because his voice is as memorable as Tony Jay, Dom Deluise, and Kenneth Mars, but there is a story behind the man behind the voice of the inventor slash cheese lover. Those who are members of the “Asperger Bronies” group knows that I never spoke until I was six years old. What influence made my first words
“Cracking Toast, Gromit!”
Those words, in the exact British accent.
And now he’s passed away, it’s as great a blow as not being able to visit him in a convention and thank him for his iconic role, the same issue that lingers with Ray Harryhausen.
Rest now, Peter. Rest.
