Samurai Jack Series Finale [spoiler free] · 6:31am May 21st, 2017
Just watched the actual, last episode of Samurai Jack. The series finale.
Wow. It's a littlerushed to fit what it has to in 30 minutes, but it's damned near perfect otherwise. Sixteen years in the making. Twelve years in the waiting. Ten weeks in the watching.
Every second was worth it.
See you around, Jack. Thanks for everything.
i think it would've been better with 13 episodes to flesh things out more. that and showing us what actually happened to the future when Aku died. feel like we got gipped on that last part. yeah, everyone coming together for the final fight would've been cool, but we would've liked closure on what their world would be like with Aku gone.

Seeing the good future would have been really cool, especially with how many of Jack's allies die horribly in the last battle, but as a thematic choice I can understand why we never do. The goal from day 1 was to get back to the past and fix the problem before it starts. From Jack's perspective, and thus ours as an audience, the details of that better future aren't that important. Although, two thoughts occur:
1) Is Jack still ageless?
2) Speaking of the good future, there's now a Jack wandering around an Aku-free future.. There's room there for a spin-off, or at least an OVA epilogue. Whether we'll get it, who knows.
I think the ending was left intentionally dim and kind of vague. It felt a lot like Gurren Lagann, and I can't help but think that's very intentional.
4541144 at least Gurren Lagann ended on a tinge of hope.
