Top 5 facts about Nightshade

Hello Bronies and Pegasisters. Yesterday was the one year anniversary of me being a brony. So to celebrate I decided to do a Top 5 facts on Nightshade from my Fallout Equestria: Story of the Lone Changeling story. Don't worry, there'll be no spoilers, so lets get on with the list. Hope you enjoy.

Number 5: Nightshade had 2 completely different backstories.

Before settling on him having Amnesia in the beginning of the story, Nightshade had 2 completely different stories. The first idea was that Nightshade woke up in front of Stable 21 after 'dreaming' about fighting in the Great Equestrian War. Only problem is, It wasn't a dream. Those things actually happened, and he wanted to know why those dreams were haunting him.

The second idea was that he was gonna be a former Outlaw that gunned down his old gang after finding out that they robbed AND killed defenseless families. In this Nightshade would be 37, and the adopted father of Scootaloo, whose family was killed the day before he took action. In the story he'd work as a mercenary and would be hired by Braeburn to go into Stable 14 and grab Apple Bloom. Only to find out a secret organization was hunting the Apples down. An organization known as 'The New Frontier.' This was before The Walking Dead Season 3 game came out.

So I scrapped the ideas and settled on a story that allows the readers to decide what kind of Changeling Nightshade molds into. Or Changes into.

Number 4: He originally was suppose to look normal.

Before settling on a wingless Changeling with red eyes and a Scorpion tail, he was only suppose to have one distinct feature. Heterochromia iridis. Originally he was suppose to have one blue eye and one purple eye.

In the first idea, he was just born with it. But in the second idea, he was suppose to gain it after damage happened to his eye. It was also suppose to be a symbol of wisdom. Due to the mistakes he's made in the past, he's got a lot of it.

Number 3: His first name wasn't Nightshade.

Like the real fallout game, one of the hardest parts about the game is picking a name for the character. This was a struggle for me because I had three different names for the first idea. Lance, Specter, and Venom.

In the second idea I decided to settle on Nightshade, going off of the nickname 'Venom' for his hasty attitude toward strangers.

The third and final idea, I decided to settle on Nightshade, but I got some inspiration from the name 'Venom' to give him the scorpion tail and lack the wings. One of the better changes if I do say so myself.

Number 2: Originality

Despite absolutely LOVING the original Fallout Equestria, the last thing on my mind when coming up with this story was making it a side story. So instead of doing that, I made it its own story. With a different way the war was fought and who fought in it. And the characters from the show, being the same age in the story.

Before revealing the number one pick, here are some honorable mentions

1: Nightshade's first filly to take care of was Sweetie Belle.

2: In all of the Fimfictions, Nightshade donned a cowboy hat of some sort.

3: Original special stats were S: 9 P:7 E: 8 C: 10 I: 5 A: 3 L: 1

Number 1: He is based off of 6 different characters.

There inspiration for the final piece came from six different characters from six different games. Three of which are in the same title.

The first character he's based off of in John Marston. Nightshade considers Apple Bloom family. And like John Marston, there's nothing he won't do for family.

The second character is Lee Everett. He stumbles across a young filly whose family (Brother, Sister, and Cousin) is out in the wasteland. She's determined to get to her family, and Nightshade is determined to help. The two then become as close as family.

The third, forth, and fifth characters are the Courier, The Lone Wanderer, and The Sole Survivor. The Courier because he suffered a head injury and a Stable doctor aided him to health. And they both gained Pip items, without being residents.

The Lone Wanderer because he leaves the safety of the Stable in order to look for someone, His age being most likely 19, and the encounters he faces.

The Sole Survivor, mostly because of the sarcastically witty internal comments, as well as how his maturity level matches that of the Sole Survivor. Serious at most times but can be sarcastic.

The sixth character is Jason Bourne. He woke up with Amnesia and is trying to find the truths of his past. If the wasteland lets him live to see it.
