Regarding My Fanfic and Criticism · 1:24am Mar 27th, 2017
So this is my first blog post - about my first story that I am sharing. It's received a pleasant reception in its current form, which is actually really great to hear. I hadn't actually written anything since my English Language A-Level coursework a couple years ago, which was a short story. So it's strange to get back into the swing of things.
Anyway, before I ramble on, I wanted to bring up an issue I have with the state of the first chapter of my story (Fallout Equestria: New Trottingham). The pacing is horrible, I know this. Despite wanting to write a story that would take many chapters to reach its climactic end, I resorted to the last skillset I applied in written work - which was squeezing a whole story into as few words as possible.
Fortunately, I didn't just throw the story to the trash; something I would have done a few years ago. Instead I sat down and reviewed the chapter. I analysed it. I took it apart and rewrote it. I came up with a solution to the pacing.
The events of chapter 1 will now be split into multiple chapters, that will be:
A. More descriptive
B. More involved on the main character
C. Focused on the world
D. Develops relationships between the protagonist and the ponies around her.
So to sum up, the first chapter will be finished being written by the end of Monday and, hopefully, the editing phase will be drawn to a close by the end of the week.
Edit: The updated Prologue and First chapter have been updated and uploaded on here! Working on Chapter 2 now!
