So I've been debating something for an upcoming chapter. It's not exactly 'soon' nor is it a very impactful thing to the story itself, but its been niggling at me and I'd like all of your thoughts on the matter.
I'm going to have a couple of characters be speaking in a language other than English at some points, Greek specifically. How do you think I should go about it? Direct wording and just allow the readers to google the translation? Translation in the footnotes? Just write it in italics and say its another language? Something else? I'd like to hear your thoughts below.
I think either having it in italics or maybe having the language written as is with the translation in parenthesis next to it would work. Love the story by the way.
4459726 I appreciate the response. Thanks for telling me you like the story as well! Always good to hear someone say so.
Try Hellblazer's idea.
Check the chapter before you make it go live.
If you think it looks ok then go ahead with it.
If it looks too jumbled and awkward to read, then maybe see about putting the translation in the A/N.
4460453 I'll give it a shot and see how it looks, run it by my beta reader. It's not too relevant to the plot, as I said, just for the L O R E.
The story is about Sunset, through and through, but a little world building never hurt.
