Miss Koi Finally Reviews MLP Comics #48-50 · 12:51am Mar 16th, 2017

AKA The Chaos Theory Arc

Boy, I need to review all this MLP stuff before Season 7 of MLP comes to us on April 15th

(Says my audience)

And I will, as fast as I can ':D *sweat* And just to answer your questions right away, yes I did see the teaser clip for Season 7 and all the other news pertaining to Season 7:)

If I have time after all my reviews and time before April 15th, I will hopefully leave a review/thoughts on what has been revealed on Season 7 so far (oh boy, there sure is a lot to talk about for that XD) But all that I can say about this clips is...I knew it:3

I knew that Discord was in Season 7, I knew that John De Lancie was just trolling on Twitter once again!XD Lol!

But enough about that, let's get to this comic!:D And oh Celestia, if you thought my rant on the Legend of Everfree was bad,then...you're in for a ride for this one:/ Just like the movie, the first two comics in the series started off with the greatest potential. So much potential in fact that I thought it would be my favorite MLP comic of all time. Even more potential than the Legend of Everfree had. BUT, like the Everfree, one of the things that ruined the arc for me was the ending. BUT, unlike the movie, it was the ENTIRE ENDING/last third comic that just entirely ruined this chaos theory arc for me. I'm so sorry. I don't want to sound like those kind of fans, but this comic triggered one of my pet peeves in story telling: the ending doesn't follow through with what is set up in the story, what is builded in the story, and doesn't match the tone and intent of the characters truly. And when this is done, the ending and the entire comice feels like a chop out:/ I'm sorry to say it, but it feels true for me at least:( What do I mean by this?

Well, what I mean by this is...and the big main problem is...the message and overall theme. Now, the theme and message is good but how it's deliverd is poor and it heavily relies on the ending and how it ties together/carries out all the things that the comic arc was building towards. The message and theme of the comic is basically saying that having friends different from yourself is true harmony, true friendship, and true beautiful that can truly make a different because if everyone was the same, we would all be mirroring one another and life would be grey if we did just mirror each other all the time and never explore the conflict and disorder that could bring out the different sides of ourselves.

The theme and message starts to set up when Discord is felt left out of the group by his constant need for chaos and disorder (with his only defender being Fluttershy <3):

This effects him so emotionally that his emotional mental set magically creates him into his true opposite, Accord. The being of ulimate "harmony" and order:

But Accord becomes truly one of the most scariest villians that this show has ever had and quite frankly, should be in the show:0 Not only did he do some serious magic mind work on the ponies of Equestria, but what makes it even scarier is that the villian is Discord. Our Discord. The Discord we have come to love, who has lost himself to the state simply due to his need for acceptance and friendship and understanding (outside of Fluttershy's friendship of course).

While yes I can see the critique and confusion surrounding Discord's ability to make himself orderly and strict like Accord, and perhaps wish for some other explanation as to why he turned into Accord, but at the same time it's more emotionally effective to see Discord in this light and going through this trauma to make him a tragic character in this tale. It helps with the message/theme more of how we view others who are different from us, and about what we say about them,...really do have a lasting effect.

Throughout Accord's seemingly good appearances with the ponies of Equestria, before the hostile take over, while everypony likes this new Discord...Starlight Glimmer and Fluttershy don't. Which makes sense and strengths the message and theme even more because Starlight Glimmer was the pupil of this kind of lesson, and Fluttershy is the perfect example of what a polor oppposite friendship can do for one's life. Starlight Glimmer was the majority, the one who was like Accord, pushing for what was the same and friendships based on a mind set similar to hers. She was the majority in power, fallen to the status of the outcast. Even though, when she was the majority in power, she was still an outcast but didn't know it because she denied it to herself, she closed that kind of thinking off in order to not think of Sunburst, and she has magic like no other unicorn. From the perspective of this fallen character from such a high power, Starlight became a student of the whole dynamics of the theme of what makes ponies different and special.

As for Fluttershy, she is the prime example of somepony benefitting for the better when it comes to being friends with someone truly different for her. Just, she did much for Discord's life. BUT, Discord has given to her as well. Not only has he taught her much about the value of friendship and patience, but Discord has subtly taught her how to be confident and strong and self assured through her tough love and advocacy on his behalf. Just as much as much Fluttershy was part of Discord's reformation, Discord was a big final push on her character development.

I don't know if you guys remember, but when I posted my wishlist for Season 7, I mentioned how I would love to see an episode where Fluttershy gets the chance to show and explain why Discord means so much to her. And based on the comic 48 and 49 in this arc, I thought the ending would finally fulfill my wish by saving Discord by confessing to him how much she means to him in her life based on the fact on how different he is. Him being different is special to her. It helped her open up, and be confident in herself and what she says and what she believes in. Thanks to Discord, she can be the better version of herself.

BUT NOPE -_- Instead, of all this build up with Fluttershy commenting how she wished to have the old Discord back and everything, at the last minute we have her get corrupted by Accord's magic and she doesn't get to help. At all -_- Starlight had the opportunity to have Fluttershy included in resolving the conflict because Accord allowed her some time to do, Starlight could have used her all powerful magic to snap Fluttershy out of the help and talk to Accord with her. BUT NOPE-_- We had a very quick last minute cliche speech by Starlight to Accord and we get Discord back.

Don't get me wrong here folks, it's not like I didn't want Starlight to be part of the solution. I did because it made sense story and character wise, but Starlight needed to have her time to shine, it made sense. BUT, Fluttershy should have been a part of this solution story wise and character wise (not just for my selfish Fluttercord reasons) cause it makes the message/theme of the story stronger, there were hints that Fluttershy could have been part of the solution, Fluttershy is Discord's best friend, and Fluttershy is a BIG part of his reformation. If you weren't going to use her, then don't put any focus on her in the first place!Xo AHHHHAAAHHHARRGHHH!X0 *frustration noises!*

Deep breath in, deep breath out. Sorry folks, it just bugs me when a good story has opportunities to make itself great and concise, but doesn't do it:( That's why, in my opinion, it's the worst of the MLP comics. Or at least, out of the ones I've read. Again, I haven't read all of them, but still...this disappointed me more than Legend of Everfree:(

BUT, not all of this comic was bad. I was surprised on how much Celestia was in this comic and how well she was portrayed. She was fun, funny, sweet, sympathic, and even had her own mini comic at the end (Don't know why they had a mini comic at the end, but they did.)

The mini comic was pretty good at the end, not amazing but certainly better than the ending to the Chaos Theory comic:! Sorry, ah, I'm so bad!X0 But it had some cute Fluffy Fluttercord stuff at the beginning, it gave some good development on Celestia and Discord and some Dislestia to make Dislestia fans happy (you guys can have this one;)) In my opinion, the Dislestia in this is played out exactly how I see their relationship: I see them as brother and sister. With Discord being the trollish little brother, and Celestia as the trollish older sister. They have fun together doing some pranks and all that jazz, doing stuff that powerful Gods do in their spare time;) Things like that;)

I completly agree with you on this, Missy. All the way! The story start kinda start to be sometimes really big, and it's was in the first arc and the second arc, and then the thrid arc come, and then the story went in a way very anticlimactic. It start of so good, then thrid arc. I feel also Fluttershy should have play a bigger role. She IS his best friend and she means so much to Discord. Price and Anderson is very talented and I mostly love there Work but I feel they could have done this story a little better. I know sound harsh, but they kinda could. I know shouldn't be judging since I hadn't written a fantic or comic. So I shouldn't be judging but we kinda pay money for this, so there we go. But sorry any way to any one how like it and the writers. I'm sorry . I mean it: :fluttershysad:
I wasn't a fan on the plus comic. Not because the story wasn't cute or because I don't ship Dislestia but I just wasn't so thrilled about. It kinda felt out for place for me. I feel it could have been a little better in a Friends Forever arc, maybe:applejackunsure:
Bur sorry again to any one there liked it
But anyway a wonderful reveiw as always:yay:
