Reaction Sequel Thoughts · 8:05pm Mar 13th, 2017

Hello, everypony! If you're interested in the sequel to Reaction, I have some information for you. This is probably going to be the first of three or so blogs about the sequel I'll make over the next few months leading up to the sequel where I share some thoughts, comments, and information about the sequel. First, a warning, while I will attempt to avoid spoiling things, there are some things I will have to address in order to prevent everyone who chooses to read this post from becoming confused. Read more below the break.

Where to start... I've been giving the sequel a lot of thought, and I'm really looking forward to writing it. I actually want to start on it now, but I have a few prerequisites set in place for myself before I actually start on it.

1st. I need to reread Reaction. I'm currently reading a story, but my plan is as soon as I finish reading that to start reading/rereading Reaction. It will be good to refresh my memory and for me to refresh my notes.

2nd. I'm still working on two other stories, and I want to finish one and make significant headway into the other. This alone is looking to be at least 3 months between now and starting on the sequel to Reaction, possibly longer depending on my motivation and available time to allocate to writing.

3rd. I have pretty much decided on what will happen/what the plot is, but there may be some finer details to work out, among other things. I will discuss this in more detail further down.

Now, something I feel I should warn you, the sequel may not be for everyone. I don't want to give too much away since it would spoil too much and potentially ruin the story, but it is something that needs to be addressed. The story will have a darker tone to it during the middle, but it will have a happy ending or at least one that isn't disappointing. I am not ending it with anything tragic. There may be a part in it where you're angry, but it will get better. Even that may be spoiling it too much. I guess I should go ahead and drop here that I'm picturing a sequel to the sequel already.

With that said, I had two ideas for the sequel, but they're mostly incompatible. Originally, I was going to make a blog post similar to this a few days ago, but I decided against it. I have somewhat rectified this, but the plots are still incompatible, to say nothing of the fact that combining the two distinct plots under one story would not feel right due to the natures of the plots. My original sequel idea which was much fluffier and lighthearted, but still had some depressing aspects to it, is now further down the line, while the darker one is pretty much what I've decided on doing. This may be subject to change, but at this point, it's not very likely.

Hopefully, you will all give the sequel a chance even after the lowest/darkest point in it, because after that, it will get better. I'm not sure how long this sequel will be, but I don't plan on trying to write 15,000 word long chapters and getting them out biweekly. Even trying to come up with an estimate of how many chapters it will be at this point isn't realistic.

And of course, this may all be for nothing, since I could still change my mind about the sequel and instead go for a lighter, fluffier story. I want to do the lighter story, but I sort of need to do the darker one to address certain things from Reaction and Meltdown "in a timely manner." Plus, with what I have in mind, it's better to get the darker story out of the way before I would do a fluffier story.

If you have questions, comments, or concerns, please feel free to voice them in the comments. I write for enjoyment, but that doesn't mean that I want to alienate you by doing something you wouldn't like.

I would actually really appreciate comments about it. I know this blog is really vague, but I don't want to spoil anything since I think that would hurt the story by setting expectations. I will try to address your questions, but I may be vague about them, or I may go into more detail about it, in which case I will mark potential spoilers.

I need help :raritycry::duck:

Im hyped for a sequel as reaction handled depression very well and the fic was just like oh look twilight is depressed now, it was formed and shown over the whole story. During Reaction Twilight hung to Rainbow as she made her feel happy and well better but her depression made her feel like she was killing rainbow's dream of being a wonder bolt but while rainbow was only caring for tw because she didn't want her 'freind' in that statei. Even in the end she was still depressed but she had Rainbow to help her get through it. To be honest Reaction is probably one of my favorite fics of all time. Also The Civil war of Harmony is another favorite of mine. All the pov changes make it feel like im reading a pony version of Game of thrones. Best part of it was when twi shrunk a tree to the size of a twig and rammed it in to the Ursa head and then let it expand. RIP URSA Sc orion you are truly an amazing writer and probably my personal favorite fanfic author due to I find all of your stories enjoyable to read. Still my Two personal favorites are Reaction and The Civil war of Harmony.
Thanks for all your amazing fanfics I readily await new chapters.

I'm glad to hear that you're looking forward to the sequel, and I hope that you're not disappointed by it when it gets here. Writing depression is somewhat easy for me since I am somewhat familiar with it myself, and I tried to portray it realistically, which may be part of the reason that the ending was less... conclusive, to the story.

It makes me happy to know that my time in writing fanfiction isn't wasted since there are people who get enjoyment from reading what I've written. I'm far from a professional author, and I just do this for fun (and because I've got the ideas), so it's... somewhat alien to me, that people think highly of stuff I've written.

Writing multiple stories that end up being very long at the same time is time-consuming and difficult... I do not plan to ever try to actively write more than three stories at once, and even that is pushing it.

I really don't understand ciphers, but I am sure there is a computer program you could run that through to decipher it. There's only so many letters in the English alphabet, so it shouldn't take too long for a computer to pump out translations switching the letters to other letters to translate it from gibberish into a sentence. Good luck. :twilightsmile:
