Ships and ‘Intimacies’ I Hate · 3:49pm Feb 28th, 2017
Yes, this is a re-post because some ships are still pouring forth.
Yes, it is your head cannon and I am the last to try to change anyone's. Just venting.
Okay, I know that I’ve been one to dissuade haters on this site. But I need to get it out of my system. And know this is my opinion. I respect yours and you are free to have yours. But no snide or dissenting comments this time. I’m only expressing myself. So garbage and hateful remarks will be deleted; take this as fair warning.
Let’s get on with it.
My # 1 hated ship is the one that is absolute BS, but permeates fanfict and fan art: Rarity x Spike.
What? is Rarity a pedophile? Spike is a baby of a species that is all but immortal. Therefore, sexual maturity would take centuries. Rarity has flirted with Spike to get him to do something for her. But it is obvious that she sees him as a funny little fellow with no more attraction to him than perhaps a little brother. Aside from that, the writers stated that is ain’t goin’a happen.
Next is Twilight x Flash Sentry. Yes there’s some attraction shown in the EG movies. But no real hints aside from one quick glance from Flash as he got back on the train to the Crystal empire. Let’s face it, Twilight has better things to do than hang out with the hired help.
This is followed up by one that makes no bloody sense: Twilight x Discord. What are you thinking? This has about as much chance of happening as Muffins (Derpy) becoming a princess.
In a related note, all of those stories/artworks of Twilight x Shining Armor. That’s just sick. In fact, Shining with any other pony other than Cadence is asinine. Why would he screw up such a good thing.
And come on, Twilight hangs out with females all the time. Infer what you will from that. In fact the only pony that has shown any romantic attraction to any male pony is Rarity.
Then there’s Discord x Celestia. WTF? That’s as wrong as Twilight x Discord.
Okay, those are my top ones. Sorry if I have stepped on someone’s head cannon. But as I said, this is my opinion.

Hmm...let me dive into that for a second. Is it just Rarity x Spike, or all Spike ships?
I would say, as Spike is, it can be seen as odd. He is slightly younger than Twilight, though we don't have a specific age. As far as education, it can be assumed he is close to the same as Twilight *mind you, Twi's education level is hard to pinpoint as well.*. But maturity is a hard question. Somehow, a dragon near his own age is now king/queen of the dragons, if they can have that level of responsibility, then a relationship seems plausible too.
I guess it depends on what you think of Spike. Personally? I mainly prefer ships involving him that has him go through a growth spurt a couple years down the line. Greenfire was a wonderful one, as well as Dealt a Bad Hoof.
Technically, if he is near the same age as Twi, it's doubtful to be called pedophilia under the law. Buut, mental maturity is another matter entirely. I do agree that, as is, romance with him is weird in general. Give him a growth spurt in the story a few years down the line, and it works much more for me. Hell, Pinkie Pie is considered an adult, and Spike definitely has more sense than she does most of the time.
Yep, I dislike him in general. You will get no complaints from me on that front.
Crack ship indeed, only seen/read it once, and while well done, it didn't feel like a romance. Learning ABCs - Adorable, Bothersome, Chaotic
To be fair, most ships have little to no chance of actually happening, but people just like those characters and want to see them together. Most Celestia x anyone fics or luna x anyone fics have a snowballs chance in hell of happening, but they are still shipped quite often.
Yeah...I don't like it myself, but there are tons of people into incest fics....for some reason.
Ehh, you're thinking logically, not emotionally. If Shining became interested in someone else, or him and Cadence were great as friends, but just didn't work out romantically, I would understand. So long as it's written well, at least. Love gives no shits about how comfortable you are. She's rich? Cool. She has a castle? Cool. Do you love her? No? Well, I've known people to give up comfort for the sake of love.
Asides from Flash or incest ships, I am not usually bothered by who is shipped with who. I just find some more boring than others. Rarity x AJ being an example of a pairing that I have read several times, and almost always find dull.
As long you acknowledge that Twisailis is okay or great
4440712 I've no problems with that. There are just so many ones out there that just don't make sense. And people have latched onto them and keep them alive.
(As I mentioned before Spike X Rarity, an almost immortal animal would take centuries to reach sexual maturity. Not to mention the 'Dragon Naps' "Hey Rarity Sweetheart, I'm going to lay down for a century, that okay with you?")
