Transformers: Shards of Lithone 1.5 Lost Light · 2:55am Feb 26th, 2017
And now we end chapter one of Shards of Lithone with a horrifying revelation! What caused the deactivation of the Well? A question for another day!
The next update shall start the second leg of the journey, with questions asked, answered, and pondered.
The Shard of Lithone shall be examined!
Friends new and old will be united!
The mettle of our heroes shall be tested as they face the uncrazmatic might of Soundwave and his mysterious allies!
I must admit, I'm having to do a lot of unlearning what I've learned from TP, but other than that this is turning out well. Thanks for the update.
Wow, I thought Shockwave was supposed to be one of the most evil and ruthless of all the decepticons, color me surprised. Though I do suspect he knows more about that "piracy" than he lets on. One thing I am also surprised by: Wasn't Shockwave one of the top decepticon scientists? Why is he saying he's just a soldier and a politician?
Ooooh, Starscream has a sibling! I can't wait to meet the white sheep of the family!
Overall, I'm really excited it looks like this fic will focus squarely on the biggest questions I've always had about transformers: reproduction.
Ok, so if humanoid cybertronians (autobots and decepticons) reproduce through the well of sparks, how do all the animalistic bots reproduce? Does not an auto-sparrow or birdicon fall to the ground but Alpha Trion knows this and pulls out a new bird spark? Or do animal bots reproduce on their own? I mean, do insecticons even have sparks?

Shockwave's a pretty big departure, I'll admit. But I still think Prime is a good base to build from, in terms of Transformers fiction. At the least, you'll be able to contrast what I do here with what was done in that series.
I hope you continue to enjoy the read!

Yes, and Rainbow Dash always dresses in style.
"Shockwave as a scientist" is actually a fairly recent thing, as far as Transformers fiction goes. It was invented in the early 2000's, after Hasbro got the rights to use his name again. A little defunct comics company called Dreamwave used him as the source behind all the decepticon technological advantages.
Originally, Shockles was the emotionless guardian of cybertron, a weapon with the physical strength, mental fortitude, and firepower to withstand armed assaults.
IDW's comics have combined the original personality with the scientific pursuits. They also added a past life as a politician, one of the original members of the Cybertronian council.
Essentially, I'm using my favorite variations from several sources, topped off with using the toy from the Prime Cartoon. I'm actually writing him with Grand Moff Tarkin in mind, in terms of mannerisms and perhaps a little something else.
You already met her. She starred alongside Alpha Trion in the comic's opening!
Dubstep is really just transformers getting freaky.
They are all ultimately the same species, no matter what form they take. Other cybernetic lifeforms exist, but they are not transformers, and have their own way of making more members.
Insecticons have a unique relationship with sparks. The insecticons you know, from Prime, have sparks, I believe. The way the originals operated was thusly:
The three main insecticons, Shrapnel, Bombshell, and Kickback, were all full-fledged cybertronians, alive and kicking. Their internal structure was such that they would devour any sort of matter, and then use that matter to produce clones of themselves. In essence, building their own army of sparkless insecticon drones. It led to some cool episodes.
Bombshell has starred in the comic already; he's the little purple/gold guy who keeps telling Motormaster when he's making huge mistakes.

Next time you need a comic relief character, add a failed tabloid reporter/conspiracy theorist who keeps accusing Shockwave of covertly giving advanced technology to the decepticons. And name him Dreamwave.
I can see that. The original lawful neutral (with evil tendancies) general in control.
If that's canon, I really hope it comes up in the new season of Robots in Disguise.
Wait a minute...... how do cybertronians even have siblings?

So an animal form is really a cultural thing. Cool.

Ah, Dreamwave. Must be related to Tidal Wave, Shockwave, Soundwave, Laserwave, and Blastwave.
Of the Polyhex Waves.
It is not canon at all. Starfall is, in fact, an original character. In a photo-comic. Bet you didn't think that was possible!
Siblings (More accurately called Twins) occur when a single spark is birthed, but then splits in twain shortly after that birth. Much like twins occurring in real life, the two bots are bonded very closely together, being similar yet different.
Canonical twins include the original Sideswipe and his brother Sunstreaker, Animated's Jetfire and Jetstorm, the movieverse's Skids and Mudflap, Prime's Skyquake and Dreadwing, and at least one version of Optimus Prime and Ultra Magnus.
It's a deeply personal choice. Or, depending on the environment, a deeply survival-based choice.

I did not think that was possible, not at all. I thought that was Windblade. Are you photoshopping bots, or disassembling your bots and combining them into brand new ones?

I think I'm confused.
Starfall is the bot in the first comic, harvesting sparks. One of the sparks harvested was Windblade. They're distinct characters.
This whole thing is pretty photo-shop heavy, but I'm limiting myself to mostly small stuff for time's sake. Barring occasional space-walk scenes. No digi-bashing; that is, digital kitbashing; that is, digitally altering toys.
Starfall's thing is that the toy I'm using for her never got a personality in any media. It's called the Minicon Assault Team, and its role was basically a zerg-rush-type enemy for the transformers to face for a single comic issue. The toy's too nice to be a redshirt, so I took it upon myself to use it for a more story-relevant purpose.
She's a bit of a legacy character within my own little multiverse of stories, too. My first comic, Transformers: Homeworld, featured another minicon combiner operating as a single personality named Perceptor. Perky, as she was called, was basically proto-Starfall, sassy and driven.
I missed her, darn it, so I made her again, this time with a more well-written arc.

I knew Windblade had come up in this comic somewhere, I had just gotten the two confused. Thanks for clearing that up.
Haha, she's your Derpy Hooves! An ascended extra given personality!
I was actually expecting Perceptor to be the sibling due to being a fellow three-part Minicon combiner. Also, making
CenturitronStarfall female is an interesting coincidence, given that I've headcanoned the team (and thus their combined form) as female for my TF world. Also also, Is Starfall ever going to utilize her components' robot modes, or does she only separate for vehicle mode(s).edit: Also also also, I noticed your Cybertron was missing some pieces. Did you remove them on purpose, or did you just lose them?

Now, now, it's totally possible these shining examples of Decepticonism are, in fact, on the up-and-up. They wouldn't be wearing the Decepticon sigil if they didn't have good intentions!
Or is this not Shattered Glass?
Peceptor remains one of my favorite toys, but I think giving her/it/them more than a cameo would bloat the story even more than I've already bloated it. We haven't even met all the main characters yet. Go fig.
Starfall being a sibling to Starscream is also a holdover from the old comic. She was occasionally haunted by Starscream's ghost until he revived himself in a stolen body (ala Beast Wars). When I first bought the toy, it was intended as an upgrade to the character, so that worked out in the end.
(It's kinda a nice way to include female characters in my story without shelling out big bucks for actual female transformers figures. I think it's the jet minicon that really looks like it could be female, but then, the tank reminds me a bit of Strika.)
I have plans for Starfall to separate into her individual robots. She performs certain experiments by literally being in multiple places at once. She's got a mitotic spark, one that can split into several different components, which will play into the story at a slightly later date.
I bought Cybertron used for $15USD, at a flea market. I figured it was a pretty good price for what I got, even if he's missing several panels and the Omega Lock. In story, there is an explanation: There was a fairly destructive event which left several scars, canyons, and at least one abyss on Cybertron's surface.
The important thing is that both Iacon and Kolkular/Kaon are still visible.
Unfortunately, this means that on the far side of Cybertron, there's just a giant robot crotch hanging out in the middle of space. Talk about the Dark of the Moon...
