The reason why Super Mario is much harder (for me) than Dark Souls · 1:29am Feb 23rd, 2017

In Dark Souls, there are many different ways you can battle bosses, enemies, and entire areas. You can use different weapons, with different speeds, that do different amounts of different kinds of damage. There are also different armors, rings, and shields that protect against different kinds of damage. Each area you go into requires some basic strategy, and there are so many different strategies I couldn't tell you how many there are to choose from (Just by choosing weapon(s)/shield(s)/attack style, armor, and rings). Now, this gives you a lot of choice, and therefore you will theoretically eventually succeed with the equipment that would suit you well against your enemies, and a fighting style that you have found to work for you.

In Super Mario (Specifically the 2D Platformers), things are completely different. There are only a few different things you can do, if you struggle with a boss, there's nothing you can change about yourself or the boss to make it easier or harder for you; the difficulty in game is stagnant. I've fought Bowser in Super Mario Land at least 10 times and he's been unbeatable. In Super Mario Land 3 I've tried, to no avail, to completely memorize the pattern of the Sherbert Land boss Hinyari and the Stove Canyon boss Funfun. I haven't had much time to try, only once or twice for each boss, as my game crashes if I lose (the save battery doesn't work either).

In short, I'm better at RPGs than Platformers.

I can understand this pretty well, I tend to do very well in games that require precise timing. I generally do terribly in all FPS games because most are chaotic messes and require no such thing. This is also why I do very well in Bloodborne as it requires precise timing with dodges. I also like using heavy hitting weapons with light armor so I can hit hard and move fast, so generally I'm a glass cannon.

4433315 I like to be a tank. I like to do good damage while still using relatively fast weapons, and almost always if not always a shield with the highest damage reduction and highest stamina reduction.

4435397 I rarely if ever use a shield, I should probably fix that habit since it could make some things so much easier. I always try to increase agility for more invincibility frames to better my chances at dodging.

4435463 You must use parrying dagger :) It's great :)

4435484 I'll be sure to try it out, in Dark Souls 2 I use the Caestus for the parry.

True enough. Speaking of Dark souls. I'm working on my last covenant.

4441154 I finally got the Darkwraith Covenant in Dark Souls I, at NG++

I wish you did too. I would love to help you carve a warpath through Lothric and maybe even help me get these covenant items! :raritydespair:

4443853 Yeah :) I would love that too :)

4443866

4447495 If you'd be willing to wait one to three years I'll ask for your help then :)
