Hey guys,
I'd like to announce that I am going back through "A Diamond For Your Trouble" and editing it.
I am going to be making some edits to the story, removing some awkward bits of narration for what I hope will improve the overall flow of the story. I will refrain from saying that the edits are heavy, as the overall sequencing won't be altered that much with the exception of chapter 2, which I will take a whole new direction so as to prevent the useless subplot that I created for no reason, where I will be removing the scrying crystals. I think I have mentioned this before that I would eventually come back to chapter 2 and redo it, and now appears to be that time.
However, I will be adding at least 1 new scene to chapter 3 and possibly a scene to chapter 4.
Additionally, I will be adding some more descriptors to make some of my plot points in the story stand out more; one example of this is in chapter 1 with Diamond Tiara's frown. I will her emotions more pronounced to give it more believability that Apple Bloom would pick up on that emotion.
Finally, I have actually realized a written copy of all the events in the story. Hopefully this will prevent future errors in a lack of build up, as happened in my chapter 5, Confrontation. I hope to achieve a proper build up for the pinnacle scene in chapter 5 where Diamond Tiara confronts her mother.
I'm excited for this update, but I'll be sure to submit my chapters to my new proofreader MagerBlutooth before I repost them. When I do finalize my edits, I will be posting them along with my new chapter 6. I figured I should post this blog so as to let you all know my intentions with my earlier chapters of this story; I had wanted to make the edits sooner, but I wanted to try to improve my writing a bit more and get help from someone first for some key points to work on in my edits to produce the highest quality work I can for you guys.
Deviating from topic a bit, I still liked the scrying crystals as a general plot device. I think I may reuse it in a one-shot somewhere later on down the road. I actually have in mind what one-shot I want to reuse it in, but I will leave that for another time.
