    Celebrating Success?

A few minutes ago, I posted chapter 30 of Solstice. This is an achievement in and of itself for me, because I don't think I've ever written anything with that many chapters before. But it also marks three weeks of actual, daily updates to Solstice—something I promised myself I would do as a New Year's Resolution and never actually expected to succeed in.

Somehow I'm Alive and I Wasn't Expecting This

So it's 2017, and I've finally got around to posting another chapter of my "daily" fic.

There are no words to describe how not "daily" that fic has been.

So basically I've dropped the ball and it doesn't look like I'm going to get this chapter finished tonight.

I'm still so shocked that I did the writing thing that I honestly don't know how to react.

So since I've easily exceeded any and all expectations I've had for myself, it's natural that at this point I'm going to pat myself on the back and go to sleep for a year keep ploughing on with daily writing and do my best to make Solstice better and better. Because I'll be totally honest with you all: right now, I don't think Solstice is half as good as it could be. Probably not even a tenth. I'm just sitting here throwing words at a screen until I have a satisfactory ending, and then hitting post as soon as (and sometimes before) I've double-checked them for stupid mistakes, because right now Solstice is all about me building the habit of writing something every day. Even if, you know, that something sucks.

Anyway, thank you to everyone who's keeping up with this fic. And even those of you who aren't because, honestly? if you're taking time out of your day to read my silly little blog post then I appreciate that a lot. You're all pretty darn awesome, regardless
