State of the Stories · 6:01am Jan 20th, 2017
Greetings all! With my life and energy back to a form of normality, it is high time I posted an update about my writing. For those of you that are seeing this post because you are following my short story Impossible Chance, I just wanted to let you know there is a sequel up in case you missed it.
Everything else is after the break but it should be 99% spoiler free.
So there are a few stories on the go now. Here's where each one is at.
Finding a Place: The inspiration for this story just keeps on rolling. Arc 2 of the story is officially completed and Arc 3 is underway. It really isn't a spoiler to let you know Arc 3 will be my adaptation of the events of Rainbow Rocks along with the immediate aftermath. This is also the point where I get to really As of the posting of this blog, I have the next two chapters nearly completed along with outlines for the four after that. This story has turned out to be far more complex to write than I realized but I think it's only benefited the result. I'm still not sure how long I'll be able to keep up the play on words for chapter titles but there's no end in sight yet!
Impossible Life: The sequel I hadn't even considered until I posted the one shot. So far so good although chapter three is challenging me a bit. I've pretty much decided to switch the primary perspective from chapter to chapter which means #3 will be a Rarity POV. I won't be overlapping events like I did from the original to the first chapter of the sequel though. I'm leaning towards capping this one somewhere around ten chapters but that is subject to change.
Broken Guardian: This one is an interesting challenge to write because of how much crap the main character has gone through. I swear it is going to be a Slice of Life story long term, but one reader was quite right in pointing out it felt like an adventure so far. That'll balance out pretty fast starting in the next chapter. I've finished the first draft of chapter 3 and I have a pretty good idea where it'll be going in the next while.
Other one-shot stories: I don't have any close to completion or release right now. I'll pull something out of my idea bin when I need to clear my mind from the bigger stories.
Other big stories: While I have a handful of ideas for larger stories and even multiple chapters for three of them, I'm resisting the urge to develop them in favor focusing on the three stories noted above. I'd rather not publish another multi-chapter until the end is in sight on at least one of the three already on the go.
To everyone who's taken the time to like, favorite, comment or even just peek at my stories, thank you so much! Your support gives me extra energy to create which means more writing in general. I always appreciate hearing your feedback on what you liked or even what you didn't like.
Thanks for reading!
