...its just me myself and I · 11:06am Jan 17th, 2017
And now I have this old thing stuck in my head:
Ok, this one isn't going to be near as heavy as the last one. I grew up with My Little Pony, not FIM, but MLP. Back in the 90s on Tapestries Muck I had a My Little Porny character named Grape Sucker. Back when FiM first came out, and artist was doing pony badges, but I lacked an OC of mine, so I had her turn my furry persona into a pony.
I think he turned out well enough, but he didn't feel quite right, so I set about designing a real proper OC, or what I've come to call my OP, my Online Persona. I've a number of characters, but only one that is really me.
Drawn by Apeture Indigo, it was good, cutie mark was accurate to what I wanted, but seeing it on him, it wasn't right. Also his horn was too big, so we turned to Al Skylark for another shot...
He got the horn very right, a challenge I think as most people expect someone with unicorn blood to have a horn, not a nub, but when you're only ¼ unicorn, what do you expect? But, another failed cutie mark, so on to the next artist...
This time we turned to Bitch Boy aka BBsArt. A much better cutie mark, but sadly it still doesn't feel right. I do have a fourth that's been commissioned, but the end result was disappointing. In the end there's only one flaw left in all of these pics, the lack of the long fur on his fetlocks common to a Clydesdale.
But, at least we have a good visual on Trail Cutter, Appleloosa's heavy haul pony. His mother, a Clydesdale, is a hard working Guild member working out of Vanhoover. His parents met when his mother came to the Guild's leather worker, a ½ ground pony, ½ unicorn repaired and made tack and saddlebags for the Guild, sheepishly asking for help with a non-standard item (imagine a Clydesdale blushing shyly). Declaring it junk, Cordwain told her to return near to five o'clock and he would have a solution. Imagine her surprise when that appointment turned into spending a weekend in a harness amongst other specialized wear. From there it was a short journey to wedding, and an even shorter journey to a family as TC'd already been conceived well before the wedding.
Foalhood was rough for him, having a nub instead of a real horn, being big for a ground pony but short for a Clydesdale all made him a favorite target for bullies since his large size meant he'd be seen as an aggressor if he struck back. Still, after almost fifteen years of roaming Equestria after graduation in search of his destiny, he found himself settling in Appleloosa and following in his mom's hoofsteps. TC has risen to be in charge of his chapter of the Harness Guild, the ponies who deliver. Whether it is purchases in Manehattan, a place where its uncouth to be seen carrying your own packages, or a place like Appleloosa where new homesteads require supplies brought in by train, they are the ponies who handle the last mile, no matter how big the job is. He works hard and is proud of what he does, going so far as to never spend a Hearth's Warming eve at home, after all, presents have to be delivered... And there are so many out there to wish season's greetings to, so many foals who enjoy a gift a simple gift, perhaps the only one they are to receive.
So, that's the big one, the real me, but who else do we have?
These are the Pear Twins, Jeremiah and Bartlett. The only twins in the family, they've taken over the family orchard, and work hard, rarely getting to town. Brothers, possibly lovers, when they rarely come to town, Bart is always talking about his brother, talking about how Jem 'n I did this, Jem 'n I did that....
In the last entry did I forget to mention that I like puns?
And then there's Grape Sucker
<NSFW>Living up to her name<NSFW>
She was originally gay ground pony in the old style, but I decided to resurrect her as a bat pony. Why? Because I love bat ponies, don't we all? Plus she was easy to design, Flutterbat had an apple obsession, she has a grape obsession. And I made her a female because all I had were male characters, a little variety is good. I'm not entirely sold on her cutie mark, but its close, the grapes are supposed to look a set of dripping balls (testicles). Yes, her name is a bit of a joke. She works on a vineyard handling evening tours, which are surprisingly popular with the stallions. She also loves tea parties, but not the type of tea parties Princess Celestia holds. Definitely a girl that's fun to be around, saucy, bouncy cheerful, but most definitely not a slut, approach her as such at your own risk.
Finally we come to the latest of my characters. I've been rather taken with Lopoddity's character Cup of Joe from her Pandoraverse. Not really a surprise, after all, my non-furry, non-pony online name is Javarod (if a lightning rod attracts lightning, what does a javarod attract?). And it occurred to me that that was a great pony name, so we get this guy.
Drawn by DJ Wolf, once again the cutie mark is close, but not right. In a way this picture is disappointing, they did it as a blind commission without telling me that it'd be that way, likewise he didn't offer to fix my complaints, I would've even been willing to pay for it, but nope. I don't like the tattoos on his foreshoulders either, not my thing, and I'm thinking he should be dappled too, though not sure about that. Either way, he's a petite (hey, who says a male can't be petite?) barely over child sized pegasus. Hyperactive, unbelievably upbeat, he works in Canterlot at Cup of Joe's coffee shop. While a good worker, able to learn about coffee and sell it nearly as good as Joe, he loves coffee, but is happy to settle for cheap drip coffee from a cheap coffee machine in a cheap travel mug. Long as its not burnt, it'll do just fine, much to Joe's horror, in fact you could almost consider him to be Joe's arch nemesis.
Any how, that's my herd so far. I am rolling around the idea of creating one more as a symbol of my editing work here, an uncle to the Pear twins named Gwyn Pear, another bad joke, but I'm not sure its worth the bother.
EDIT
Ooo, I did forget that we have a few more characters planned, all three as part of the Clocktower universe. Allegro, owner of The Spreader Bar, both from my furry universe, a reindeer doe who's nameless at this point, along with her master, a changeling (old style cheeselegs), also currently nameless.
