Hi, Everyone!
Well, it's been out for a day...
"Buckball Mania"...a different kind of story. Usually, any story, or group of stories like a montage, focuses on a pony (person), or group of.
"Buckball" actually focuses on the game, making it a mirror for the impact it makes on our ponies lives.
I watched the episode, and was intrigued. An organized sport. Yeah, they had them in the Equestria Games, but other than RD's dilemma in "Rainbow Falls", the sports themselves were only vehicles to advance the plot.
Here was a sport that changed the dynamic. It dictated the reactions of the participants. AJ and RD being second string while Ponk and Yellowquiet ran the table. And then, they threw in Snails.
It's a game most anypony can play. As long as you had an Earth, Pegs, and Unicorn, and a basket, you were in. It didn't matter how good you were; you played for the brags, or fun, or just because.
It stuck with me, this episode. I watched it over and over. Because it was fun...!
Then, the Appleoosa game. Real uniforms. No pickup game of shirts and skins. They were real teams, even if it was intramural.
Then this, amongst others, shows up:
I loved the idea that foudubulbe put out. The Princesses playing the game.
(Though in my story, I used the uniform colors of the staff at Canterlot Canton for the Nobles. Cadance? Left her colors alone, and called her team in Crystal Empire the Crystals)
And if them, why not everypony?
And if everypony, why not a real league?
"Buckball Mania" is born. Ponies being fans.
Thanks for the time...
