The First Update of a New Year

Good evening, my wonderful readers, and happy 2017 to you all!

First off, allow me to apologize for disappearing in the middle of December. The Christmas season was much tougher on me than I'd anticipated, and that translated into my writing grinding to a standstill. Top that off with my son visiting through the holidays (he's still here with me, in fact) and I haven't done much writing at all.

This is not actually a bad thing, though, and I'll tell you why: the last chapter I put up effectively ends act one of Consanguinity, and this little break has given me ample time to plan out where this story needs to go next. And that's a very good thing, because the second act is (hopefully) where all the little things I've laid out will start to come together into the climax.

Will Skyla integrate well with her new family? Will her fear of her parents keep her from forming a good relationship with Cadence and Shining Armor? Will Mr. Murphy hear the siren call of assumed safety and pour out his ironic wrath upon the unsuspecting denizens of the Crystal Kingdom? And if he does, which pony will be his harbinger? Or will this story contain nothing but overly-wordy touchy-feely feelings and wind to a happy but anticlimactic climax after really long scenes with feelings?!
