Pick something totally random, and see how long you can make it without just describing random things in overt detail. For example, I did haikus, chiropractors, and absolutely nothing, and they're all over 1000 words. See what you can do!

In regards to Star Trek, a crossover or just Pony-Star Trek hybrid?

Crossover. Ponyfying anything, particularly star trek (as in captain kirk being a pony), usualy ends up horribly in my opinion. So I think it'd be best to do a one-shot and see how it fares.
Any ideas or suggestions are welcomed.
