I really need your peoples help on this...
Guys, I'm kind of scared for my baby gerbil girl, Yuni.
I don't have any pictures of her, no, not yet, but the sweet little thing keeps getting her nose scratched up [possibly by her mommy?] and now her left eye isn't open all the way like her right eye is [possibly scratched, too?]. And, though she's eating and kind of drinking, I don't see her gaining much weight [female are lighter than males, but she's still about the same amount as she was when she was 8 weeks old and I don't have any other baby females to compare her too. How much does a 2-month old female gerbil weigh...?]...
Can female gerbils get territorial, even with their own kids?
Should I separate Yuni & Flame an see what happens?
i'm sorry to hear about your situtation and I do wish I knew about Gerbils. I hope your pet will get better!
I have no clue what you should do about this but maybe you can try to seperate them for a little while but I suggest doing some research on female gerbils and their young to see if they should be separated at some point.
This may just be an abnormal situation (if all gerbil mothers mutilated all their female offspring i doubt the species would even exist.) but i wouldn't count on waiting for it to stop normally. Separate them.
hahaha omg remember when u were scared about this u loser?
Yuni was the only one in the litter (that wasn't donated to a pet store) to live longer than her mother.
She was a sweet, strong little gerbil.
