So that thing I mentioned: Equestria Daily · 9:11pm Oct 15th, 2016
You remember that thing I mentioned in that last blog post?
I submitted "Succubus" to Equestria Daily. Despite hearing some stories from some people about how their process is nonsensical, I did it anyway, just to see if I could get something of mine on there.
I just heard back, and... this is the response I got.
Thank you for submitting your story to Equestria Daily, but, unfortunately, I cannot recommend posting it. Due to the high volume of stories we receive on a daily basis, we cannot give specific feedback on why.
... Really?
I didn't realize it was that bad.
You read all the way through the story, and can't say anything about why you can't recommend posting? Not even a three-word sentence, like, "It's too sad"?
The Fimfiction moderators give feedback on why they didn't pass a story, and I'm sure their inbox is just as, if not more full than EQD's.
I'm not mad it didn't pass; honestly, I had a very low expectation that it would pass. But I was expecting better than, "your story is against our recommendations; here's the Editor guide so you can figure out for yourself why based on very vague recommendations so we don't have to spend the thirty seconds telling you our reason."
Wow.
How lazy can you get?
I've had nothing but disappointing experiences with EqD. I have no plans of submitting any content to them ever again.
There's a pretty fair chance they didn't actually read all the way through your story, too. I submitted a one-shot (8k words) to them awhile back, and they mentioned in their response that they stopped reading after about 3k -- didn't even get into the meat of the story before rejecting it.

At least they told you what the problem was!
Even if that problem is with them, not the story.
