    I got ART!

I know I haven't done a blog in awhile, but being a full-time single parent working a full-time job, and a part-time writer tends to really chew into the hours I have in a week. That said, I just had to carve out a little time to show off the remarkable gift I was given from Lady Lightning Strike by way of the amazingly talented artist Pridark.

    Commissions!

Yeah, been awhile since I've written any sort of blog post, but I do have some good news. I'm re-opening to commissions! My patrons on Patreon will get priority for their commissions first, but it doesn't mean that everyone else can't ask for some stories either. Here are my commission conditions:

So... a small heads up about the upcoming month...

I'm about to start writing the final chapter or two of the Brightly Lit saga, after which time I'm actually going to be going on vacation for a week. As in actual time off from my job and all other responsibilities. Which means no Twilight Learned this month, and perhaps not next month either as I reassess things in the wake of the end of writing roughly 350,000 words on one pair of stories set

So... a bit of a heads up

Over the past few years I've engaged in a practice of letting my patrons on Patreon decide what story I should update following the Brightly Lit update in the month, and I've noticed a bit of a pattern. Mainly that anytime "How Twilight Learned" comes up in the voting it easily wins. So recently I asked my patrons if they would like me to just concentrate on Brightly Lit and HTL until one of

    State of the Pen

It's been 10 days since my brother died and 6 since we laid him to rest at the foot of a willow tree near a shady stream. I find myself both functional and numb. I can act, react, and do things, but anything beyond the basics is like trying to push fog with your hands. Something happens but not much. I find myself staring at a computer screen and feeling... nothing.

Well, hell.

I just realized it has been eight days since my last blog post. In my defence I've been really cracking down and writing hard. Chapters 11 and 12 of The Bridle Path will be out and online in the next 12 hours barring any major last minute problems. After that I am going to take a day or two break for something a little new.

I've been hanging out in the Discord chat of Damaged who is a pretty prolific author here on FiMFiction. There are more than a few authors there and we've been batting around more than a few insane ideas. One of which is doing a sort of shared world thing. The premise is a horrific disaster has struck Equestria, killing most of the populace and leaving the surface environment poisoned and deadly to ponies. There will be tales of sacrifice, of love, of heroes falling and heroes rising. Of enemies forced to work together and what happens when a world governed by the magic of friendship can instead only rely on respect and cooperation.

So, once these two chapters of Bridle Path go live I will be spending a few days hammering out a draft or two of the initial story of this. Heck, we don't even have a name for it. "Fallout" anything has been preemptively rejected, so don't even ask. :flutterrage:

With regards to The Bridle Path. Things are moving toward the conclusion now. There are only 3 major scenes left and then the epilogue. Plus, I did promise to provide a dark ending as well. I've also been receiving a few requests to carry on with more stories in the world of Bridle Path. Perhaps dealing with the long term consequences of the events of that story. I still find it amazing that the little chapter or two story I had intended to write as my first effort grew into such a massive tale. I'm humbled that so many people read my incoherent scrawls and felt them worthy to comment on.

Okay. Recommendations.

Big Macs Duty by Damaged. A gender bending piece of cloppy mayhem. The first chapter didn't thrill me, to be honest. But the following chapters were enjoyable.

And

Bonus: A Note, A Letter, and a Journal Entry by Justice3442. The author polishes off his absolutely epic comedy rage piece "Out of Space" with a brilliant epilogue. I now have to read all of their stories...

Last thing. Regarding the season finale. I have to admit I was "Oh dear God, no. This is the end of the fandom." Then I realized it wasn't, because it isn't my fandom. It's everyone's and everyone isn't going to like everything. Why should I be any different. So, love it or hate it, my advice is to just keep being awesome to each other.

All the best to you and yours.

First things first, if anypony wants to jump in and chat, whether you are a reader, writer, or just love ponies and want some friendship, the Discord server is over Here.

As for the shared-world idea, it is expansive and likely could take the rest of our lives to plan, let alone write. It is going to be awesome. Maybe. Who knows?

Season finale... Well, the most important thing to think first is, don't abandon our little buggy 'lings, though they might be growing up into beetles, that isn't to say ALL stories with changelings loving others is now against canon. I expect that such an event required Thorax to catalyze, without him, undoubtedly a prince or king, the whole event couldn't have happened. Not hard, not rocket "surgery". As for writing stories including the new "changedlings", I believe we should all hold off on that until we get a little more info on them (IE, S7, which we know is now in the works.

Don't stop creating!

For the name, how about: "The last haven", if it mainly revolves around rebuilding population and cities?
