You could agree with them. You could spare their feelings, keep them close to your heart, and sacrifice your beliefs (and your sanity!) to keep them happy.
I've noticed that throughout my fic-writing career I haven't really gotten much feedback on anything, with the exception of I Don't Swing that Way. This really shouldn't bother me but it does. I guess I just have a great fear of the unknown.
