Hello and welcome to one of the most unusual meetings in Equestrian popular music: that of a pony and a griffon. In this case, that little earth pony is me and that little griffon is a new talent I'm proud to have met.
A week prior to the sessions, I got a phone call from Mike Curb (head of Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer's Record Division) who told me all about an exciting new talent on their roster; her name simply being Gabby. Newly entangled with such curiosity, I decided to shorten my vacation in Indiana and go back to my hometown of Manehattan after only 34 hours. I discovered that this Gabby that Mr. Curb talked about was a griffon. But this was not the kind of griffon we see too often. She is kind, considerate, and helpful, a thing she says made her a lonely woman in her old home at Griffonstone, where the other griffons were (for the most part) unfriendly, short-tempered, and greedy; that's a stereotype I'm glad she's trying so hard to buck.
As for the songs, Gabby commands the entire A-side with the kind of soulful energy today's records are being graced by; among the songs, me and my 'cuz wrote a tune on here called ''Happy Machine'' and, also, we have a (fitting) composition from Sly Stone entitled, simply, ''Fun''. We sing together on a couple of tracks; the second track was a fun session for me to get to because Gabby somehow manages to put me into the song - and succeeds. Quite well, in fact.
I'm known for much more mellow music and the selections on the other side fit that category to a T. Gabby and I sing together on the ''We Only Just Begun'' track, mainly because we both agreed that Gabby should add her own vocals in to create a harmony not unlike the kind that the Everly Brothers and Simon & Garfunkel were known for. Some of the songs on my side of the album are ones I've sung before but have strangely never had the chance to record before.
I'm also known for my wit and I supplied that to the names for both sides of the record. And, what's more, I hope you enjoy our little fun time together as much as we did.
