Shout to the World: NO to Articles 11 and 13!

Hello, this is Obake. Please read this whole message, and spread the word.

Normally I don't get political. However, with recent events in the European Union (EU), I need to make my voice loud and clear: NO to Articles 11 and 13!

    School Raze

Friendship is Magic review by Obake

    (SPOILERS!)

Credit where credit is due, this special has the funniest ending of the series, which was likely unintentional. I was laughing for awhile.

School Raze is the two-part finale of season 8, and exactly as I expected, takes itself too seriously. The antagonist of the episode is Cozy Glow.

    What Lies Beneath

Friendship is Magic review by Obake

    (SPOILERS!)

This would be the strongest of the school episodes, were it not for a few choice line of dialogue and strange ending. To be fair, the ending may turn out to be part of a bigger plot involving the season's villain, in which case it makes somewhat more sense.

    On the Road to Friendship

Friendship is Magic review by Obake

    (SPOILERS!)

On the Road to Friendship is overall okay. For an episode revolving around Starlight and Trixie on a road trip, it was not a total wash like I thought it might turn out to be.

    The Washouts

Friendship is Magic review by Obake

I am reviewing episode 20 first, as I have had trouble finding a decent version of 19.

    (SPOILERS!)

The Washouts is all over the place, starting quite bad, only to mellow out. I appreciate parts of the episode. The rest...not so much.

My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic first impressions

S06e21 Every Little Thing She Does

by Obake

(SPOILERS!)

EVERY LITTLE THING SHE DOES

Bake at 350° F 22 minutes, let cool in oven 10 minutes...
Makes 1 square episode, 6x6x2

1 cup Lesson Zero
1 cup Castle Sweet Castle
2 teaspoons spiders
1 tablespoon rainclouds
1 one-ounce pat of butter
1 packet of SugarCube Corner Cake Mix®

1. Add Twilight, Starlight, and Spike to Crystal Castle. Twilight will want Starlight to do a friendship lesson. Starlight will attempt 5 friendship lessons at once to impress Twilight. Remove Twilight and Spike from Crystal Castle and place in Canterlot.

2.Add rest of Mane 6 to Crystal Castle. Each will have a task to do as a lesson, including (but not limited to) sewing a dress with Rarity, scrap-booking with Applejack, and baking a cake with Pinkie.

3.Starlight will use magic to turn the Mane 6 into compliant zombies to avoid potentially failing said tasks.

4.Add unintended consequences of magic with a cup of destructive hijinks.

5.Remove Twilight and Spike from Canterlot and place back in Crystal Castle. Add apologies from Starlight to Mane 6.

6.Mix forgiveness from Mane 6 and Starlight unknowingly accomplishing lessons as she cleans up destruction.

Result will be an episode that feels it should be a lot worse. A protagonist who starts apathetic towards friendship lessons, heel turns and attempts five friendship lessons at once; is too afraid of failing said lessons to actually do them, so transforms five of the main characters into Stepford zombies; add in a teaspoon of oddities, out-of-place references, and weird dialogue, and it should be a disastrous episode, but it will not be.

Comic hijinks will keep the zombie Mane 6 from being too terrifying. Though they will still unsettle, more so than the hypnotized townsfolk in Lesson Zero. It could be the dilated pupils.

Pinches of good gags will balance saltiness. Though none of the jokes will be laugh-out-loud funny.

Even the risky ingredient of the Mane 6 getting hangovers will not turn out extremely bitter, a miracle.

End result will be an episode that is okay despite its mix of potentially caustic elements.

EXTRA FILLING
-Add ½ cup of references. Include a nod to Captain America's shield, the “Need a bigger boat” line from Jaws (again), and references to Predator, Braveheart, and possibly Spiderman.
-Starlight will prove her insane skills in magic, making her fears of cake baking and scrap-booking all the more strange.
-Add Pinkie for more laughs, as she will utilize the most for humor in the recipe, even in her zombie state.
-Mix zombie Rarity making a dress for a mouse as the best gag in the episode.
-Make zombie Applejack tell overblown stories, and Fluttershy get covered in bugs. Add Rainbow bringing rainclouds into the castle to put out fires started by burning cakes.
-Give hangovers to the five who fell under Starlight's magic. Mix just enough wit and characterization for each to keep the scene from being a disaster.
-End with the “everypony laughs” trope, but make sure the line the characters laugh at is inexplicably humorless, for example “How long do we sit quietly?”
