Colony Moves into Beta · 12:22am Sep 24th, 2016
It's happened. Colony is officially ready for Beta 1.
That means grammar and typo hunting. Proofreading for small errors. The stone the story was carved from? It's been examined and re-examined, prodded at, chipped away at, and touched upon. And now, at long last, the sculpture is finished. What's left is the spit and polish, the final sheen to make the surface gleam.
Beta reads are open to all prior active Beta Readers and Alpha Readers. The call will go out tomorrow. Which also means that in a short period of time, Shadow of an Empire will progress into it's own Alpha, so there will be a call for that too.
Right, back to work! There's no time to waste! I've got a cover to get done, files to put up, and much, much more!
Oh, and I'm still aiming for an October release date for Colony. Mark your calendars!
Sweet! It'll be nice to read some more stories in the Dusk-verse. Any re-reading recommendations before the first chapter goes up?

Ah ... hate to disappoint you, but neither of these are pony related. Colony is a Science-Fiction adventure epic, and Shadow of an Empire is a Fantasy-Western Epic.
There are two pony fanfic stories I'm working on on Saturdays, however. One is ... well, I'm not going to spoil it, but not DG related, the other is a sequel to something I've written and for now that's all I'll say. Both are shorts, however (for my definition of short).

Eh, I'm still interested in reading them. A fantasy-western epic sounds like so much fun to read. And I'm always game for sci-fi.

In that case, you will be well-served indeed. The goal is to get both out before Christmas. Colony is 334,000 words (or about 1300 pages) and Shadow of an Empire is 254,000 words (or about 1000 pages). That's a lot of adventure to enjoy!
On a side note: Unusual Events was 152,000 words (or 515 pages) and came out in February. So if all goes as planned, in one year I will have published roughly 740,000 words.
