[Rant] The new Pokemon anime... · 9:23pm Sep 15th, 2016

I am literally the only person on the planet who actually thinks it looks better than the previous shows.

To be fair, this is coming from a guy who doesn't watch the anime. I don't hate the anime mind you, I just haven't found the time for it. That being said, I have noticed that this new series is getting a lot of hate and I'm not exactly sure why. Is it because of the new style? Ash's face? The fact he's going to school? What?! What is it, dammit?!

Whatever; the point is people really hate this. Me? I think this is great! The animation looks so fluid and really calls back to the days of older anime like Starblazers and Sailor Moon (which I TOTALLY didn't watch, BTW). Actually, it kind of reminds me of One Piece, what with its free-flowing animation and slightly simplistic style, which I think really benefits the show and what it's going for. People love One Piece! So then why not this show?

In the (insert age here) years I have been on this planet, I have come to many conclusions about many things. For this particular case, I have come to the conclusion that...

The Pokemon Fandom really fucking sucks.

Actually, most fandoms suck, but that's a topic for another day. This particular fandom sucks because of how whiny and annoying they can be. Like most fandoms, but again: topic for another day. But most importantly, they really, REALLY hate change. If something changes, Jesus has left us; that is the mindset of these "fans". They want everything to be exactly how it always is: Gym Leaders, League, the whole shebang. I've already seen people in the past attack some other YouTubers who had THE GALL to believe no gyms would be in Alola. It's been universally accepted now, sure, but that doesn't rid themselves of their words.

And now we're here again with a bunch of stupid kids who somehow got a hold of their parents' phone and began commenting on YouTube, plus all the butt-hurt adult males who still live in their parents' basement who everyone knows as "Genwunners". I find it absolutely fascinating how one tiny, insignificant detail about the new Pokemon anime has the fandom up in fucking arms, basically calling out that god is dead and the world is ending.

Their words, not mine.

Anyway, that's my rant for the day. Hopefully this rant was vastly more entertaining and much less biased than my last one, which I still sincerely apologize for by the by. Tell me your thoughts on the new anime in the comments below! Honestly, if you like it or hate it I won't blame you. I just dislike it when people take something like this WAY too seriously.

Eh, he looks a little more goofy, but it's not so much of an art change as drastic like the Ben 10 Ultimate to Ben 10 Omniverse.

My only complaint I had in the series in all these years, was with the Black and White season with how much they regress Ash to the point he was more dumb than in his debut in season 1.

And I think like a lot of people, the animators should take risk and aged Ash. He should be what in his twenties now?

My opinion, Pokemon needs more changes. The reason I stopped following the anime was because of how unchanging it seems to be. Bird Keeper Toby actually did a video where he had Pokemon go head to head with Yu-Gi-Oh, I'll try to share that later, the results might surprise you. Point is Ash is ALWAYS the main character and the same 3 idiots from Team Rocket are chasing for the same reason they had in the First season. It's time the Pokemon anime got a NEW main character, Sun and Moon are perfect opportunity for this. It's not all too hard, just Put him and Team Rocket On A Bus and have Ash do a few cameos. Sadly probably won't happen, every time Ash enters a new Region he loses almost all the development he got in prior seasons.

I like to consider myself a minor Pokemon fan, and I welcome all the changes to Pokemon, I just wish they change main characters between seasons/regions for a greater opportunity to take more risks. I grew up with the original Pokemon show and games, and find annoying, and a little heartbreaking, that only the games are willing to genuinely try new things.

Wait, Ash is going to school in this anime? Hm, that could be interesting.

This new anime looks interesting. Hey, maybe once Ash graduates from school he'll know it's a Jigglypuff, as seen from above.:trollestia: I have watched the first season WAY too damn much. Though to be honest, I do miss Brock and Misty.

Thankfully Ash won't be as dumb in this series as he was in Black and White. Why? Because he's going to school.

Everyone's been begging for a new main character, but we already know that isn't happening. Thankfully it looks like the Sun and Moon anime is the bud for the flower of freshness that we all so need, even with Ash here. Ash is going to school, Gym Leaders are gone, and now we have Ultra Beasts. Also Team Skull isn't kept until the last third of the series like LITERALLY EVERY SINGLE POKEMON SERIES EVER. Thank god, because Team Skull is kickass!

Do you like the newer games?

Getting rid of Brock was a good step in the right direction, if you ask me. Don't get me wrong; I miss him too! But he overstayed his welcome on the show.

4211907 Maybe they can bring back Tracy in the future. I've literally only seen like two or three episodes with him in them, but he seems cool.

4211902 I do indeed like the newer games, they have a bunch of a new things that make games feel more like a world and less like an activity you do to pass the time. Although I kind of didn't play through any games after Gen 1 until X and Y, but I did follow along with reviews, and to a lesser extent the anime. The X and Y anime had its first seven minutes or so perfectly set things up for a new main character, but a minute or 2 ruins it with Ash stepping off a plane and loudly declaring he is now in the Kalos region, from that point on the season is once again primarily focusing on Ash. That is something that frustrates me the most about the anime's production company, the opening scene for X and Y was a way of saying "we know you all want a new lead for the show, but we don't really care about any of that"

If they wanna keep Ash then they should at least age him up, or maybe the boy in the isn't but his son instead, they could lampshade how similar the two look in regards to the main character's age to really bring the meta stuff in.

My biggest problem is honestly Pikachu.

He looks like he wishes to devour my soul.

But other then that, I'm actually fine with the plot changes. Animation is weird, but a neat callback and easier to produce as well. So points there.

Honestly though, I kinda wish we were getting a more mature Pokemon anime. Not for adults, but one similar to Generations, if you know that one. Still, as I say time and time again in my defense of BvS, I should look at it for what it is, not complain about what it isn't.

So honestly, I'll give it a shot, high expectations and all.

Nope, never heard of Pokemon Generations. Definitely not excited for it either!

But yeah, fair points.

Oops I meant origins.:rainbowderp::rainbowlaugh:
But honestly, this could work. Go for a cheaper style with the new Pokemon show, and have a special sort of origins/generations thing with the leftover money. It could work!

As promised,

I stopped watching mid way through Unova (I know I spelled it wrong)
