I can't believe it, Mlp has a good episode this season.
Not to say this was a bad season all round, it's just a lot of the episodes seemed to have a lower quality, it might be from those new writers. Plus, Aj and RD are total jerks this season. You all know what episodes I'm talking about, Buckball, The Cart Before the Ponies, 28 Pranks later, it seems like the new writers don't like them as much either. A lot of the characters seem a bit out of character this season, or maybe the lessons are expected.
But then there was yesterday's episode, The Fault in Our Cutie Marks. I've got to say, I loved it.
One, it's a Cmc episode, so I like it already,
Two, the characters were actually in character,
Three, it addressed what needed to be addressed, when it needed to be addressed. So I didn't shout at my screen as I did with the past couple of episodes.
Four,
Five, it introduced themes I was actually interested in. And questioned.
Six, Gabby is my spirit animal
Seven, Good song
This season wasn't the best, it had it's ups and it's downs, One of the ups being Stranger than Fanfiction and one of the downs being The Cart Before the Ponies. *I never hated RD, Rarity, and Aj until I saw that episode.*
I don't usually do blogs about reviews of episodes, but I'm just glad to see the quality of the episodes improved. Probably because the story was made by Megan McCarthy and Josh Haber.
Maybe I can add Gabby in a future chapter of 'WtW?'
Also 101 Dalmatians. Because this is the 101th blog.
I do not hate either Cart before the Ponies or 28 Pranks Later.
In the later, we are that Rainbow still has room to grow and as shown time and time again needs to be brought low in order to learn something, in that episode it's that somepeople should not be pranked and somepranks are just plain cruel. And unlike in Mysterious Maredowell, the rest of the Mane6 discuss with Rainbow Dash and try to talk with her first, as for her pranking of Fluttershy, it's been two years in the show at least, we have seen that Fluttershy has grown a few layers if think skin it's clear Rainbow thought Fluttershy could handle it and Rainbow Dash has always lashes out when challenged or she precieved she's been challenged and also unlike Mysterious Maredowell, there is no accidentally making Rainbow Dash sympathetic, here she is in the wrong and stays until she learns her lesson in the only way She has been shown to learn it.
In the former, Apple Bloom and Sweetie Belle love with AJ and Rarity, they should have known their sisters and it's not like they didn't have somepony else to ask (Big Mac and Twilight respectively) as for Scootaloo, she gets a pass because she doesn't live with RD and RD clearly did got hear Scootaloo because Scootaloo was vague. Also remember how Rarity was in Sisterhooves Social before she realises what she done?
To me the only bad episode, the only episode any character was written out of character would be Applejack's Day Off, but as Dr. Wolf pointed out in his review, Applejack his the only character that can be both the teacher of the lesson and one that needs to take it to heart at the same time. And the major fault in that episode is the lack of transitioning to and from the spa, where AJ fixed the pipes, and the farm, where Twilight follows the list. My headcannon is that Applejack really did not want to go to the spa but was too asumed to tell the truth So she continued to go along with dragging her chores out much like in The Last Roundup.
To me, most of the episodes of Season 6 have been par for the course of MLP:FiM, and the season as a whole has been better than the last seasons, by like one or two points when compared to the same episode number in previous seasons, I just find that too many fans are expecting episodes to be Guantlet of Fire level of good (which is not fair) and that too many fans are getting tired of slice of life style episodes (which while is an understandable seems to ignore what has made this show last as long as it has)
But that's where I stand... And on a more positive note.... I want a Gilda and Gabby episode in season 7... Maybe they can be more recurring characters overall... Especially Gabby
I can see your point. I have my opinions, you have yours, and if there's one thing Stranger than Fanfiction could've taught, me, it's that people can like certain things (a season in this case) for different reasons. You've got your points, the episodes I mentioned aren't terrible, they're not bad actually. And I don't expect them to be at Pinkie Pride, Gauntlet of Fire, Amending Fences, or any of my other favorite episodes level. That's be pretty unfair to those episodes, it's a pretty high bar to set. But in my own opinion, it could be better.
But I respect your opinion, if you like the season, good on you! Don't let anyone change your opinion. (Sweet Celestia I sound like Shia Labeouf) Thanks for taking the time to read, and for putting in your own input.
Also, I'm with you on Gilda and Gabby. BRING ON THE GRIFFONS!!!4205696
Only thing I didn't like was Gabby's voice. Was kind of ear rape and to much on the high end. But, I got over it.
4205855 Well to be fair, all the episodes of the series could have been better, for example Guantlet of Fire, We did not need Twilight and Rarity as our proxies, Spike was all that was need. However, everyone involved made what they thought was the best episode with everything they were given at each stage for each episode.
Personally, I've found this season to be the best one yet.
No pony has felt out of character at all to me this entire season.
Most episodes so far have been either the best, or one of the best, in certain categories.
So far, there are 3 episodes that I'd give 10/10s to, 2 that I'd give an 8.92/10, and the other ones so far have a score ranging from 9 to 9.98/10.
The 3 perfect episodes are:
No Second Prances, which is the current best episode of the season, at least for me.
A Hearth's Warming Tail, which is my pick for best version of A Christmas Carol ever.
This episode, which I feel is both the current second best episode of the season, and the second best CMC episode. (And in terms of CMC episodes, nothing will ever top Crusaders of the Lost Mark).
The two episodes that just miss out on 9/10 are:
Applejack's "Day" Off, which I'd describe as "simple, low-key fun".
Cart Before the Ponies, which, for me, is predictable, yet entertaing.
I will say that part of the reason I gave this episode a 10/10 is Gabby, who is the first Griffon we've ever had who's likable right off the bat.
Good points. I guess I'm more in favor of previous seasons. But yeah, there's definitely some good episodes this season. Not all are the best in my opinion, but you're right.4206207
