Welcome, i dabble in a bit of everything, as long as i get to flex some creative muscle i think i can write it.
Since "Finding My Muse" is gonna be a longer project, is it a good idea to begin a shorter one? Normally i'd just go for it, but since this site prides it self on detail and proper writing, perhaps that would distract me from the main project.

Well I think you should do what you want to do. My first story on here was this and I guess you could say that it was a bigger project. It did well for my first story and I guess that's where it really depends. You want to be famous right off the bat then you could go for something smaller to give your followers something to read while they wait or you could just do the longer story.
However you want to look at it.
