Dear NVIDIA · 9:43am Sep 9th, 2016

Get your heads out of your asses so you can suck our dicks.

So I made the mistake of updating GeForce Experience to 3.0 today, and was absolutely dumbfounded that they now want you to login to be able to use it at all. You know, update drivers, optimize game settings... When you create an account, you need to verify via email. Problem is, quite a few people, myself included (possibly as high as 50%) are not receiving their verification emails. Some report getting them within seconds, some after an hour, and some as long as 48 hours. Until then, you're unable to update drivers or optimize games with GeForce Experience.

My question is this: Why the fucking hell should we have to log in to ANYTHING to manage our goddamn HARDWARE? You guys are having some major privacy and spyware concerns thrown at you, and it's exactly what you deserve. I don't know, maybe this is your "3.5GB VRAM" debacle of this generation, but even that didn't have me start to look over at AMD cards. This did.

Mobs of NVIDIA users are understandably pissed, myself as well. One of the most popular topics on the GeForce forums right now is instructions for uninstalling 3.0, and rolling back to 2.11.4, as well as how to either bypass or remove the update prompt (simply hitting cancel won't let GFE boot). I've rolled back to 2.11.4, and probably won't touch 3.0 until NVIDIA comes to their senses.

Will that happen? Probably not.

yep I am getting the same crap.
I normally never turn on GeForce Experience as I up date my drivers with direct downloads from the site.

What in the eleventh layer of the electric hell were they huffing when they thought *this* one up?

Gah!

Boot to the head, Nvidia, boot to the head.

AMD dun have that problem Kappa.
Dunno if this is as cancerous as Razer Synapse, though. That shit will happily forget your profiles if you change location. Or really just at random, and this assumes you get them at all when you change computer.

Yeah, I updated drivers today. It had a C++ Runtime error first time and it promptly uninstalled ITSELF from my PC. After redownloading GeForce Experience, which I shouldn't of had to do, I finally updated my drivers and it broke everything. Every game ran at 1 FPS. Many PC restarts and power cycles later, with no game improvement whatsoever, I just restored my system to before the driver update. Low and behold, everything worked fine after the system restore. Not to mention that running dxdiag, I found it didn't even register my GPU after the driver update. After the system restore? It registered my GPU no issues.... They gave me a fucking heart attack. Thought my GPU blew up. FFS NVIDIA....

Edit: And I WAS looking at getting a GTX 1070, but now I guess I'll be looking at other cards instead.... Any recommendations for a GTX 1070 equivalent from AMD?

4202433 I've been an NVIDIA user for six years, I've asked a friend what the Radeon equivalent to the GTX 1000 series is, they've yet to get back to me.

4202531 Damn... Do I dare continue with NVIDIA or try my best to find a similar or better card from AMD? I've got about a month or two to decide on one.

4202535 If the rumors are true, direct downloading for drivers is going to stop, and will only be put out through GeForce Experience. If that proves true, it'll be time to swap for me.

4202537 I'll have to keep a close eye on NVIDIA now.. I was really looking forward to getting the 1070. I pray to Luna that they reverse this decision and step up their game. First time I've had a driver update go fucky on me and scare me the way it did. And I thought something was off with the whole 'sign in' thing. Never used GeForce Experience much, but I was certain that was never a thing before. Glad to know my feeling on that was right.

4202540 I use GFE solely for ShadowPlay, and it's awesome. I don't know if Radeon cards do anything similar, or if I'd need to get a third party program to record footage.

4202541 I've been using XSplit Gamecaster for several months now and besides needing a license for watermark free 1080p and access to 60FPS streaming/recording, it's a pretty good program. I've got a mid to low end PC (good enough to squeeze 30FPS out of Fallout 4 when streaming 720p on 3.5Mbps ↑, playing at low settings [Textures on high though!], sadly, but still looking good honestly, and not surrounded by explosions or downtown Boston) and haven't really encountered many issues with the program.

4202548 How much is the license, and how frequently is it updated? I only had my eyes on FRAPS, but that hasn't been updated in years.

4202549 Every couple months it feels like. Think the last one I got was last month. As for license prices, I think they vary depending how long you want it to last. (Just did a quick google search, first result for "xsplit gamecaster license" https://www.xsplit.com/buy )

Edit: I've had to download at least three updates for the program this year, so I'd say its updated frequently.

4202551 Just made my displeasure known to NVIDIA on the GeForce Experience official feedback thread.

I'd like to think they won't ignore this; what with how many are either manually re-downloading 2.11.4 or doing a system restore after 3.0 FUBAR'd their system, but experience tells me they might just try to sweep this under the rug with some PR bullshit.

4202557 Most likely. While they make some awesome GPUs, they're a lot like most other companies when they make a big fuck up. Act like it didn't happen. Like R* for example. I'm not gonna get into my displeasure with R*, but they're horrible with customer support/satisfaction. Let's just say The Cunning Stunts update blacklisted a car I've had from the beginning of GTA Online, and which R* made a whole DLC around *coughlowriderscoughcough* and they pretty much told me I didn't own my own vehicle or was attempting to customize another player's vehicle. Despite video proof of their fuck up. "We apologize for the inconvenience and will escalate your issue to a higher department". Big company talk for "Fuck you, deal with it." And other players have had this happen too. Nothing done about it.

4202564 I think it all depends on how many people it's affected, and how many of those will eventually cave, and those who absolutely refuse to budge from 2.11.4.

If it truly is as high as 50% affected, this could, and should, get ugly.

4202565 As long as they fix this, I'll be happy.

4202566 Same. They also have to fix ShadowPlay.

I mean, hell, the "3.5 GB" fiasco didn't even make me flinch. The 970 was awesome. But this bullshit...

I'm sorry, but having to log in to an account to manage physical hardware in your rig is just asinine. Someone doesn't have their heads on straight if they think users [like me] are going to accept that.

4202567 Yeah, I'm in full agreement. It's just stupid having to sign in for that. If it comes down to it, I'll just stick with this driver version for as long as it works. Maybe download a copy of it somehow and save it off my PC so when I get a 1070 (if I do now, considering this shit happening) I can install that version of the drivers for it.
