More Thoughts on "The Super Speedy Cider Squeezy 6000" · 4:14pm Jan 31st, 2012
In bullet point form:
- The beginning scene was a love letter to the FlutterDash shippers, but from a non-shipping perspective, I found it really adorable too. Rainbow Dash chose Fluttershy, and only Fluttershy, to be her waiting-in-line buddy, and I find that interesting. I love the hints we get that these two are pretty good friends.
- Meanwhile, the Pinkie-trolls-Rainbow subplot was a love letter to the Rainbow Pie shippers. I liked that Pinkie wasn't doing it on purpose. I don't think it would have worked otherwise, if Pinkie had meant to be mean. And of course ending it with Pinkie offering Rainbow a mug of cider was perfect and d'awww-inducing.
- The song. It was catchy and very old-school musical. I dug it. And I loved how vaudeville Flim and Flam were.
- Rainbow Dash's hilarious series of sad, sad facial expressions. Your pain is delicious, Rainbow.
- "I think I'd love to have the rest of my family helpin' out." D'AWWWW. Yay for the writers for making this explicit, that these six friends consider one another family. My heart, it was so full, I thought it would burst. And good on AJ for not being too stubborn or proud to accept some extra help.
- Twilight wrangling the troops. I always like when she goes into leader mode, and I find it interesting how the others naturally defer to her authority.
- "I DIDN'T LEARN ANYTHIN'! HA!" ilu, writers.
And, of course:
I take this scene as incontrovertible proof that Rainbow Dash is in love with Pinkie Pie. That is the only explanation for how Pinkie escaped a very well-deserved clobbering. I mean, really.
Nnnnngh, I really need to get caught up!
I did love how Pinkie was literally laying over Dash when the Super Speedy Cider Squeezy machine turned up, all as a result of talking about a drink.
That's that picture
