Changing styles in a Fallout fic. · 12:50pm Aug 15th, 2016
Although it isn't, and won't be tagged. This blog is about Fallout: Equestria - A Song of Angels. I don't really want Fallout: Equestria readers to see this, least of all the ones reading my story, but if they are they're still welcome to read it.
Now, the reason I wanted to write this was probably more to vent at my own stupidity, least of all the FoE community, so as not to digress I'll go ahead and explain what stupidity that was. My stupidity is my inability to stick to a certain POV's parameters. A Song of Angels is told in first person, but you see, I don't like following just Gattle Gun's POV, because that is edgy and unpleasant to read through. He's an angry and ruthless character, and while he does improve throughout the fic, I feel there'd be more excitement if we saw the fic unfold through multiple characters.
This is where the problem comes in, a lot of the pov's come from deceased characters, that can pose a problem in a story like FoE, I'm not familiar with first person nearly as much, I think in one fic it has a present tense setting but uses first person, but of course that's not what I want. I fully plan to change A Song of Angels into a third person story, just so I can be a little more omnipotent, but that poses its own problems as well. I'll be sacrificing a few things I planned to do, and I am adamant to the bone about doing that. I will change styles, only if the story is in agony over the multi-pov, but in the end I might have to relent, and if my early followers know me I almost always go ahead with changes, regardless. But we'll see, I'm presently re-editing and doing some minor re-writes to chapter one, which I attribute to the fics mixed reception, as well as the description.
