My Slow Writing and Life Update · 3:11am Aug 14th, 2016
I'm 4th year University student studying Computer Science. I'm into writing, art, programming, and game development. I tend to plan far in advance for the future, and previously I've mentioned A Darkened Land will likely be my last novel length fic.
(What is Computer Graphics? Stuff like this. Or these.)
I've been writing for a while and now feel pretty good about where my skill is at. My career focus is primarily programming, computer graphics, and game development, so those come before everything else. My plan was to finish A Darkened Land then switch my focus over to learning art, occasionally writing and posting one-shots or 3-4 chapter novellas to keep my writing skills sharp.
However, as I've gone into 3rd/4th year, I've become really invested in my studies around Computer Graphics. Next semester I'm getting paid a full living wage to work full time on undergraduate research in one of the university's labs.
In addition, I've started to learn art. I followed some online lessons and filled 20 or so pages of a drawing book, and now I'm taking a month-long drawing course: 10 hours of in-class drawing per week, with about another 10 hours per week in drawing homework. I want to continue and make this a habit.
This was always sort of my plan, but originally I wanted to finish A Darkened Land before this shift happened. I'm still going to finish it, but I should really stop making any sort of promises or estimates about its progress. I'll probably get some solid writing in after Bronycan. You can find the story's current status at this blog post, which is on my user page, and I'll continue to keep its status up to date whenever I write.
Also once I'm done I think I'm probably going to try out a lovecraftian horror one-shot with a strong element of mystery. Also I think I might dive back into shipping--but of course very non-conventional shipping. I have some obscure ship ideas. The most obscure ship ideas.
"You've probably never heard of them."
TL;DR: I'm still going to finish A Darkened Land. I'm a stubborn bastard like that, but I can't guarantee it won't be slow to update.
Congrats.
I wish you well on your research projects.
That hipster Dash is way too adorable.
