SUBJECT OF THE DAY:
Argentinean VHS Tapes!

AVH: Argentina's home for all your favourite things that come from Hanna-Barbera, Warner Bros. and even Paramount (via CIC of course!)

EXAMPLE 1: Taken from a VHS of the 1986 Clint Eastwood vehicle Heartbreak Ridge:

After a presumable warning screen, we have a rather cheap logo for AVH, and then a promo aiming to reduce the amount of piracy in Argentina. There are two factors that go against it: one would be the incredibly cheap and ludicrous 8-bit animation shown here (looking like it was designed by an amateur) and another would be the background music . . . which sounds like it came off a pirated LP!!! Either that, or the volume goes up and down in an rather awkward manner. I'll hand AVH this: Video Club sounds like an awesome name for a video store. At about 1:28 it makes an atrociously crude cut to the 1986 ''Cheesy Shield'' Warner Home Video logo.

EXAMPLE 2: Taken from a Looney Tunes VHS:

After the AVH logo (which looks like a Star Trek rip-off than anything else) we cut into the warning screen and then a much more gradual transition into the 1986 ''Cheesy Shield'' Warner Home Video logo. Then it goes to a Merrie Melodies cartoon that looks like it was joined in progress - - - the Shield is already on the bulls-eye!

EXAMPLE 3: Taken from an unknown Warner Bros. film on VHS:

After the Warner Home Video logo, we see a promo for various AVH films, which looks like somebody from the '70s had way too much foresight; the background has what sounds like a disco number and it was being used IN THE '80S!!!

EXAMPLE 4: Taken from Batman (1989):

The Batman logo rather creepily flies onto the yellow tape here. It's an anti-piracy ad - then again, The Caped Crusader is supposed to be an heroic character, right?

EXAMPLE 5: Taken from a VHS of the 1993 film A Perfect World, one of several '90s films starring Kevin Costner:

Tape starts off with the text translating into ''Made in San Luis, Argentina''; it looks and feels more like a station ID than anything else. Following the 1986 ''Cheesy Shield'' Warner Home Video logo, we see a rather trippy anti-piracy commercial that features a strip of holograms, all featuring a pirate with a cross-out over him.

EXAMPLE 6: Presumably taken from a VHS of Wolfgang Petersen's all-time career triumph The Neverending Story:

A more slickly produced anti-piracy ad, featuring clips from the 1984 family classic, hence the assumption. Some of the 8-bit animation is still cheap though.
