Freeville Chronicles: A ruin in the forest

There are a lot of reasons why Freeville Chronicles failed, some of them in-universe and some of them connected to real life events, but the most pronounced in-universe reason is probably the impossibility of its beginning. Some very simple and basic considerations inevitably lead to the conclusion that Freeville and its inhabitants and characters are impossible. They cannot exist for a

What were my plans for Freeville Chronicles?

As I mentioned in my last blog post, Taking a Step Back from Fall of Equestria, I had the rest of Freeville Chronicles as well as a rough concept for a sequel mostly planned out. Since I'm likely not going to finish it, but I think it was an interesting concept and possibly would have

Taking A Step Back From Fall of Equestria - pt. 1: Announcement

This decision has been a long time coming, but due to recent events, I have an announcement to make. I am taking a step back from my involvement in Fall of Equestria for an unknown period of time. I’m still in the process of determining what exactly that means, and whether it will be permanent or just temporary, and I already have the help of some of my good friends in the fandom in figuring it

Musings: How to read and understand prophecy and vision in a fantasy story

“Three crowns had the First King of the stags. One for the sun, a crown of baleful gold. One for the moon, a crown of mournful silver. And one for the earth, a crown of fateful bronze. Three crowns shall the Last King have, too.”

Outline of the caribou invasion of the Redux

As promised, here is the outline and time frame of what the caribou invasion would have looked like in the Redux invasion story. Before we provide our own outline and timeline we had planned, I would like to give a quick rundown of non_creepy_nickname’s original timeline, so the problems of it become apparent. This will show how we solved most of them, and also the few issues we weren’t able to

Fall of Equestria displacement story idea: The Unique and His Cow · 9:11pm Aug 8th, 2016

This story idea for a displacement story came to me today while I was strolling. I might do it as a side project, but I have to see if I can find the time.

The Unique and His Cow

Berlin 1844. Johann Caspar Schmidt, philosopher and bonvivant, better known by his pen name Max Stirner, is about to make it big. He just started a milk delivery business that promises to become quite successful, he is about to finish his philosophical Magnum Opus The Unique and His Own, outlining his philosophy of egoism and unapologetic selfishness, and he has finally been invited to join an influential circle of philosophers, intellectuals and revolutionaries known as "The Free". But the cherry on top of it all is his betrothal to the beautiful, rich, and deliciously dominant dame Marie Dähnhardt, who loves to spank his insolent selfish butt now and then.

One day, after returning home, he finds an odd creature in his living room. Female, anthropomorphic, covered in fur – he isn't an expert on zoology, but he guesses that the being in front of him must be some kind of anthropomorphic cervid.

Will he, with the help of his friends Bruno Bauer and Friedrich Engels, find out what divine powers are responsible for this sudden and spooky appearance? How will having a genuinely selfless creature around him affect his views on egoism and selfishness? But most importantly, how will his beloved Marie react to a submissive female constantly bumbling around him? And what role does the mysterious Karl Marx play, who was invited by Engels to join "The Free" but so far hasn't bothered to show up?

Of course, there is the problem that it doesn't have any pony characters, nor any other real connection to MLP. If I do this, I'll probably have to find some other way to publish it.

I'm just started getting into Marx, so I would love to see MLP and Marx combined, even if only tangentially through Engels.
