Blarging (with spoilers) · 8:03am Jul 31st, 2016

The following contains spoilers for S6E13. This is your last warning.

Well, Daring Do makes her return, showing that she really IS Daring Do (disguising as A. K. Yearling) and not A. K. Yearling (disguising as Daring Do). This episode drips with puns and meta aimed squarely at the pony fan-base and honestly, this is like shooting hilarious fish in a laughter-filled barrel. I mean, come on, if you are one of the crowd who 'don't like anything since S3', you are going to dislike the episode by default!

As I said to David, it scores nine hooves out of ten, only missing out on a perfect score by not having Cadance in it. Sorry Luna fans, Love Princess is Best Princess.

RD was portrayed well, a little ditzy in her pursuit of 'proving him wrong', but then she was trying to prove herself right, that is the RD way.

For a pony that the makers admitted was just a recolored Rainbow Dash, Daring Do continues to grow on me as a strong, smart, and capable mare. More than this, though, she is willing to accept the help of others, and has grown because of it.

Still, if they had only squeezed Cadance in... :twilightblush:

No comic today, sorry. I am going to watch the ep again and nerd-out. Peace!

Totally forgot the midseason hiatus was over yesterday. This will be remedied!

Daring was proven to be real in the episode Daring Don't, so i dont know where ur coming from that this ep proves her real...we already knew that...

4124794 We knew she existed, but whether she was the alter ego of A. K. Yearling or whether A. K. was the alter ego of her was a little up in the air. This ep pushes strongly that she is certainly Daring Do first and foremost, and that when she needs/wants to hide, she becomes A. K. Yearling.

Their chance to have her as some kind of mythical reflection of Rainbow Dash's own psyche is long past, although that would have been a cool plot, probably a little too high a concept for the intended audience though.

4124908 the evidence...and it proves my point...

4124950 Right, but neither of those tells us who she really feels herself to be.

Was she born as A. K. Yearling? Or as Daring Do?

4125025 logically speaking, she was born Daring Do and uses the pen name of AK Yearling with her books, as a means of funding her various expeditions. it is not an uncommon practice amount writers to use pen name in place of their true name..

4125332 There is canon to back that? But yeah, that is what I think too, as you would likely gather from my story and how I am handling (hoofling?) her. By the show alone, there is yet a chance that she could have been born A. K. Yearling, and then taken up adventuring (and her character's name, Daring Do) after getting writer's block.

4125384 illogical and unlikely in my opinion, 'AK Yearling' has the look and feel of a penname while 'Daring Do' is closer to the kind of names prevalent in show cannon. that being said, that is only my opinion...
