So, I think I start to do episode reviews... · 4:31pm Jul 30th, 2016
Or at least give my instant impressions on recent MLP episodes.
Partly inspired by a certain someone who thinks he has to call every episode shit or a personal attack to his beliefs.
So anyway, stranger than fanfiction, aka. the episode where we see people make fun of fandoms 101.
This one was freaking fantastic.
I can imagine god knows how many people actually not getting the joke and being insulted by the way how Quibble was portrayed as a stereotypical fanboy, but I thought it was hilarious and by far not as bad as it could go.
Look people, lets face it: Our fandom... no, scratch that. Fandoms in general have issues. We all know people who take things too serious and even we ourselves may take things to serious once in a while, cause it does not fit our expectations. God knows I was not a fan of the "Siege of The Crystal Empire" and that I could just be as much of a rambling asshole as some other extremists in that case. But instead of being silent about it or going to the extreme, I think it is best to actually laugh at it. Show and realize how silly it is and based on that improve ourselves and hopefully others, while also respecting that there are different opinions.
Also, as someone who was there when the Animation Renaissance was still young, I know there are worse (and yet even more hilarious ways) to make fun of really obsessive fans
Heck, anyone here ever watched Teen Titans Go? The amount of shit thy threw at their critics and fans (of the show and animation in general) is way worse. And immature.
But back to the episode. It was funny.
Quibble is a surprisingly funny character because he embodies so many nerd stereotypes without getting too much into detail, there was nice "action" and humor and I think a good meta joke once in a while is okay.
So, yeah. After the hiatus, we are for a good start
