Intuition tells me that I should have posted a blog like this before I finished uploading all of the chapters of this story.

What good has intuition ever done for me?
"Slice of Life" is a controversial episode. I remember for a period after it aired where the fimfic community seemed divided between people who loved, loved, loved it and people who thought it was terrible. Both camps were quite vocal in their opinions.
One thing that I appreciated about that episode, however, was a glimpse into the background characters of Ponyville. In particular, I was intrigued by Amethyst Star's single line, something along the lines of "Nopony's asked me to organize anything since Twilight moved to town." Then, when that wasn't addressed for the rest of the episode, I'll admit I was a little disappointed, but it did get me thinking more about Amethyst, her role in Ponyville, and a few other things.
It took me some time, but this is the result of that thinking. Amethyst was a lot of fun to develop and articulate, as were the side characters that make an appearance throughout the three chapters of this story.
It was a very good experience, foraying into the rather rich realm of background characters in MLP, and I may or may not have a few other ideas kicking around for similar adventures with other characters.
