Another day, another game of Ponyfinder played. This time I GMed the final few fights of the first book of The Mummy's Mask, for some friends. To be honest, with how they built the baddie, I could have creamed the party. He had three BIG spells at-will: Dimension Door, Bestow Curse, and Spectral Hand. The plot called for him to want to curse everyone into the ground but the problem is he is TOO good at it. Basically, I could have kited the players around and debuffed them all down to 1 in every stat, and it would have been unfun. So I relented, I gave them a chance to deal with him and they did, despite being badly debuffed already. Yay teamwork!

So now we move toward the fun bits. As I said, I would be starting to alternate 'villain' chapters with 'slice of life' chapters, so the next one will be a doozie. There are a few mares ready to have their foals, there is a whole group of ponies in Ponyville who, while they have sampled the local fruit, they have not had the local fruit sample them... well, except Fluttershy. Nuzzles is just so adorable! :yay:

That combo, is pretty strong, if you dont have a counter-spell type in party. (And honestly, with a mummy, you should sorta have that between the cleric and the caster.) But some groups, well, just wont work together. And deserve that smackdown as a lesson in teamwork. They do, there are times the casters need to sit down, and support, not grandstand. (if this module had dispel as an option for level anyhow.) If not, then bleh on the designers. (It would be like having to deal with a flying at-will cone of cold type with dr 15/- and yes that does exist as a 5th level bbeg.)

4065187 cr 4, so 2nd level, saves are going against will, and targets casters or a paladin/cleric first. the big thing here, is los, and the spectral hand. Thats certainly very visible. 4th level, you have magic items, so you can keep destroying the spectral hand, or destroying it with spells, positive energy (it is a ghostly necromantic creation) and staying, depending where this fight is, either in an open area, with long LoS, or pulling back to one. (so you can't have it striking through the walls) And force it to basically keep taking damage or close if it wants to deal with the party.

It sounds like a rather irking 2nd edition encounter with a ghost or three, that you cant really get rid of easily beacuse of its haunting ability. You have to either whittle down the thing remotely, or irk the gm (sorry, but it was a thing) enough to get it to change tactics.

I always wondered abaut Ponyfinder. How to play it?

4066149 It is an extension to the Pathfinder Roleplaying Game, which is itself a re-imagining of the Dungeons and Dragons 3.5 edition.

You play it much how you do regular DnD, with a bunch of good friends and an evil bastard who is your GM.

4066322 I wounldn't get into it propably. Too many non-pony races in there...

4066799 Well, yeah, but there is nothing making you play a phoenix wolf, or a griffon. You can play a happy earth pony, pegasus, or unicorn.

phoenix wolf

Nope. *vomit*

4066871 Did you read the rest of my comment? I was saying you DON'T need to even look at them. Play ponies!

4066872 Well, there are just 2 ridiculous races too much in there. There were the wolves and something else I don't quite remember...

4066888 And Teiflings and Assimar aren't over the top in regular pathfinder? As a GM, I tell my players what they can and cannot play with. For example, I do not allow those particular races for play.

4066937 Still, mentationing them even leaves a bad taste in my mouth...
