Am I Making It? · 10:42pm Jun 30th, 2016
Today I was jumping between tabs, glancing at my recently activated Facebook page, checking to see if Fluffymixer had responded to my request —see previous post for info— and making sure I didn't lose an online argument with my marefriend over which is better, cats or dogs, when I stopped, realizing that I had a notification on my Fimfiction account.
And, as I read the comment over, from an author who will go unnamed for their own protection, something dawned on me. Someone else, a longer time brony than I am, was asking me to help them with their story. As a nerdy kid sitting over a tablet, this blows my mind.
Someone else, someone I don't know much about, who probably only knows me by my own writing, by my work, was asking to help them.
Woah, right?
Everyone is in need of assistance. It doesn't matter of their age, religion, sex, race or any qualities that define them. What is truly special is that someone is able to ask help from another individual. A thinking, breathing being. Now some computer that auto corrects your words. I'm talking about a real human connection. One that is so rarely shared on the anonymous ever hidden internet. People tend to speak more freely on the internet due to the anonymity that it can induce. But when we start to talk to each other more and more through different lines of communication. Be it Twitter, Face cam or just a phone call, can mean the difference between a lasting friendship and that random stranger. So I leave you with this thought. If we are to become more connected and unified to reduce conflict, should we continue to talk to each other through text or speak face to face?
