    Bam. Updated Word Count!

Got to update the word count. Killing it recently, and I think with about six or so more chapters, I'll be ready to release this bad boy.

    [relatively half-way done]

    Upside Down Smile

He's back, and thanks to my some odd weird mood swing, I'm now happier than a normal person should be.

And that bio isn't serious, I swear. I joke about my own death to make me not do it fyi.

Love you, night folks. I'm going to go crash in bed.

Oh, and join Norris's group, because we need some semi-decent shitposters who will give him some consensual McLovin'.

Forum Moderators - Why Hasn't There Been Toggles? [Minor Suggestion] · 6:51am Jun 29th, 2016

Haven't really been able to test out the permissions behind the forum moderator status. From what I remember, moderator position is literally useless since it hasn't been updated (to my knowledge). Not sure if there has been any patches or updates lately viewing this little group thing, but I would like to offer some of my two cents into this little thing.

The moderator status would benefit if the group admins were able to set permissions as to what the moderator status could do. For example, when in the promotion section, the group admins could promote a user to a moderator (the green + sign [I think it might be called a supporter or contributor w/e]) and utilize their permissions by giving that user access to folder creation, access to deleting threads, and/or even editing the group's main page. Essentially it allows limited access through a toggle system that would say either be a redirect to another page where the admins could toggle these certain permissions (bet you there are many more that I don't know of) or have them directly under the name (so re-coding how members appear to group admins/the founder) to add these toggles underneath the position in a checkbox sort of fashion.

Honestly wouldn't mind having this function edited so the contributor status is used again. Because it has no value at this point.

Opinions?

I've had an opportunity to play around with the forum system over on proboards free forums, and there are a lot of things I'd have liked to see over here. One of them was that as an admin, you could create groups like contributors for your forums and assign them whatever rights you wanted.

You could also merge threads, split off posts from a thread into new threads, and things like that. There's a lot of stuff that groups could be doing better on fimfiction...

Essentially what I want to happen on Fimfiction said in one sentence. Thank you for being more concise. :D

Hmm, not sure how merging will work on Fimfiction. And I do like the idea of sub-threads, but those will be hard to keep track of... especially for moderating! :D

No problem!

It also had it so you could have sub-forums inside forums. And you could choose what groups could see 'em, and what groups could post in 'em! So if The Writers Group was like that, we could have had a private writers group subforum right inside the main group, We could've had subforums for particular topics (like a subforum with all the episode discussions in it), and things like that.

The idea with the threads is that if somepony starts talking about a totally unrelated topic in a thread, and an admin comes along, they could just move that whole chunk of threads over to another thread. It makes it easy to keep things on track!

There's a lot of things that could be done better.

The entirety of admin powers

create and edit folders
ban people
lock threads
sticky threads
edit the forum image and description

I think that's it, there is really no need for moderators because there are so few things an admin needs to do. Also few groups are active enough that the admins are overwhelmed or need more people to handle the little things like forum moderation. I'm an admin for one of the largest groups on the site and we do just fine with 6 admins.
