Harmony Pie · 10:05pm May 24th, 2016

Go follow Harmony Pie. She's only two away from 400, and she's a way better writer than me. So do it.

Update: Yay. Two minutes after posting this, she had reached 401 followers. :pinkiehappy:

that picture scares me

Oh my gosh... Thank you!:pinkiehappy: This is so nice! (Although, I've heard from a moderator that this is not allowed...shh)

You're the best *squee*

I believe the rule is you can't randomly tell people to follow other people for no reason, and if you give a reason it's okay. But Idk — it's not mentioned in the site rules either way.

3969426 No problem, I understand how frustrating it is to be stuck on that sort of number :derpytongue2:

Oh, maybe. I did it once to help this person with depression, and got a PM:twilightblush:

Is someone's follower count even meaningful anymore, what with posts like this? I sometimes follow people whose stories and posts I care for in some way. You know, the feeling of finding something great that you can actually relate to in some way, and staying around it.

My suggestion on going about this would be to link to a story of Harmony Pie's, thus possibly getting more followers. If people even want to follow her. I wouldn't want to hear a 13 year old's public monologs anytime soon. But that's just me.

I don't tend to promote many people this way, but when I do, it is always because I think they're a good writer (usually of stories, occasionally of blogs), and not just because they're nice (though she does seem to be).

She's been on this site only five months, but has already garnered an army of followers, not (as many people do) via follow-backs, but by publishing great stories. She's written 12, and seven have made their way into the feature box on the front page. (By comparison, six out of my 42 stories have.)

She's not a "good writer for her age". She's just a good writer.

I didn't link to a particular story, because they're all so good.

3970486 Really now? You worded your post as if she's just a friend who needed two quick follows to fix her follower count. Mixed with the predictable slight flavor of self-loathing.

Actions speak louder than words, I guess.

The combination of that 398 and my OCD about round numbers only explains the timing of the shout out.

3970501 So without the timing in mind, you would just say, "go follow this person, they're a better writer than I am," without any reasoning, which I've had to comment to get.

Which isn't much better, imo. But you're pretty selfless, which is alright.

Oh, and earlier when I said monologs, I meant blog posts, not stories. Blog posts are usually stuffed with the author's personality compared to stories for obvious reasons. I don't really have any positive outlook on people I don't know, and bubbly personalities just don't appeal to me.

Hey. Hai! Yeah, I see you...

sorry:rainbowlaugh:

3972794 Hey there.

I didn't mind if you were to see the conversation, lol. I'd say that kind of stuff regardless of who'd be mentioned in a blog post like this. I have no doubt you're doing well with your stories, but I'm focusing on things other than fics, finishing up classes and whatnot. I'll very likely start reading again in July if anything, when I'll have a place to myself for the month.

Now it's 408. You monster.
