Just watched the new Star Wars.
Holy shit was it terrible.
I wouldn't call myself anywhere near a diehard fan, but still, even I couldn't get into this garbage.
Getting over the rather B-list acting and the rather rushed plot line, it literally felt like they were cramming two or three movies worth of information and scenes into one picture.
...And the Deus Ex Machina.

3969364 Honestly she wasn't, it was mostly the ass pulling she did I didn't care for.
Imagine how I felt. I'm a very deep fan. I know a shitton of lore and have over 30 novels of star wars and nearly 80 comics in my cupboard right now. I invested an asston of heart into the Expanded Universe and to be honest - I liked episodes 1-3 because they looked better (I can tell computer effects but see them as natural), like Jar-Jar Binks and the story of the Predistenied Fall Tragedy was something that I adored. And the worldbuilding was supreme.
Oh, and I did forget that I loved how the EU continued the films with Palpatine cloning himself, the Jedi reamerging once again as the order with it's swag culture... the only thing I didn't like was the Vong invasion because they seem wierd and they're phisical look doesn't fit their flore they are using. But the ending of the EU was a war of the Empire, New Republic and the new Sith Order that took a huge chunk of the Empire, the NR is a fixed version of the rebelion, there are Imperial Knights (force users) and Darth Krayt is actually one of my fave Clone Wars characters, before his downfall.
Now imagine how I felt when Disney scrapped all that juice and replaed it with that half-assed movie. Just imagine.
3969407 You know, if they had decided to switch out those scenes with some actual dialogue and plot building, it might not have been half bad.
Instead, the story followed a formula of "Oh hey! This is happening and I need to get this item there! By the way I'm this person!"
"Oh ok! I'll just take everything you say at face value! Let's go!"

Were those the skeletal race from another galaxy or something that had living shields, weapons, ships etc and were OP as fuck? That was back when I actually read books, so my mind is a bit hazy.
But in all honesty the expanded universe was really well put together.
The minute they said that the New Republic had a resistance and that the 'New Order' was fucking around as they pleased I knew it was done.
3969675 Actually the Vong were out of place for the SW universe. True, they had a bit of foreshadowing but they look too ancient. Also their armour and clubs are wierd for some reason. The invasion was forseen with the extragalactical project but it was destroyed. On the other hand Palpatine get the allied Chiss out of the mission, so not too bad. And the Vong made him a good guy as he was evil to cumulate power and save the galaxy from them.
The thing I absolutely raged abaut it the sole name "The New Order" is describing the goverment, not the organisation. It's so vague to the point of stupid. Because if you ask - what Empire: the Galactic one, asking this question With the order strips it from any logic.
I mean it was a star wars movie.
The older ones might have been better, but that might be the nostalgia talking.
This one was a perfectly acceptable star wars film, shallow characters, dumb action, predictable plot, and good special effects. The recipe isn't very complicated.
Don't get me wrong, I like me my in depth characters and awesome curvy plotlines, I just don't walk into a star wars movie expecting that.
