WDSU-TV6 New Orleans - ''Siskel & Ebert'' - Oct. 2, 1993! · 4:21pm May 17th, 2016

Out of 5 movies, Gene Siskel and Roger Ebert [who are two of my all-time favourite film critics and influenced many recent ones] highlight reviews of For Love or Money, Short Cuts, and Malice, in a show taped from the longtime NBC-TV network outlet in New Orleans. [speaking of NBC, my mom happened to tape a network broadcast of For Love or Money from its flagship station back in '96 - Ed.]

WDSU-TV is Louisiana's first TV station (bonus points if you live down there and/or have relatives from the state), commencing operations the week before Christmas in 1948. From 1950 to 1996 Channel 6's studios resided in the historic Brulatour Mansion on Royal Street in the famous French Quarter of New Orleans. In the early 1950s, WDSU-TV was the station where the TV career of Dick Van Dyke was launched. Van Dyke hosted various local music and comedy programs as well as serving as an announcer. One wonders if he may have done the WDSU-TV nightly sign-off at least once during his tenure there.

3950917 I did not say ''low-tech'', I said ''low-powered''. But the two terms are pretty synonymous with each other, if you ask me.

3950925 :applejackconfused: That kind of dishonesty doesn't fly here in Tucson. In fact it sounds to me like that town in Michigan with the bad water than a town in Louisiana.

3950943 That's what I'm saying! Your town sounds more like Flint, Michigan than a small town in Louisiana.
