To whom it may concern 2: an explanation of my recent absence from the site and plans for the future

So, as some of you may have noticed I haven't been very active on this site as of late. In fact my page has been so dead that when I came back I was kind of taken aback by the changes on the site. Heck, I have even missed a majority of this new season of MLP.

    I am back baby!

Yes, after a lengthy time period I am finally back to this site. Of course, I never left it truly, but I have been largely inactive due to some personal issues. However, those issues have been resolved for now and I can finally dedicate some time for this wonderful site. I do hope to finally complete the Darkrim story that has been on the backburner for a while now and begin a new secret project

My thoughts on critics and critcism

Well, this has been a long time coming. Now, before you say anything, yes I know there are a lot of users that have already discussed the 'issues' of criticism, but I think this is a topic that bares repeating, since it is one of the most important steps in growing as an author. Learning to accept critcism and learn from it can easily turn an awful author into an actual decent writer. However,

    Hear yee hear yee!

As some of you may have noticed, I have not been quite active on this site as of late. This is, unfortunately, due to my highly busy college schedule. My classes start very early and end late, so I barely have time to even rest. Because of this, I have set my latest installment of Battle for Tartarus (yes that's the official name of these fanfics now)saga (Darkrim and the Elements of Harmony)

I really loved this one! While it isn't a perfect retelling of the classical Christmas Carol, it certainly does hold its own among the pantheon of adaptation. It retells the old tale quite well, not to mention that it works beautifully with the show, and provides some perfect 'casting' so to speak of. However, what truly amazed me in this episode were the songs.

Honestly, out of all the MLP episodes, this one has, in my humble opinion, the best songs out of them all. While I usually find some of the lyrics and compositions in the show to be rather meh, this episode really surprised me. I really got the ' This day aria' feel once I heard Snowfrost's villain song (which could be a bit too villainous, considering she was supposed to be representing Scrooge, but it was far too enjoyable) and it was really lovely to get that groove again.

The song about Snowfrost's past was really freaking touching as it really shoved us how she became what she was. In all honesty, I kinda wished it would go for a bit longer just so we can see her progression over the years as the harsh words of her teacher slowly take toll and start morphing her into a pony she became. But all in all, the musical composition was excellent and I really loved it when Snowfrost herself sang the last verse.

The song about the Heartswarming Eve present was a particulary upbeatand rather fun one, which was by in large thanks to Pinkie Pie's portrayal of the ghost of Heartswarming Eve Presents. Each one of the three songs was perfectly tied in with the character they were portraying which really made them all stick out quite well and become rather memorable. And this brings to my favorite song of the bunch: Luna's Future.

Anybody who knows me, knows how much I absolutely adore dark, gothic songs with beautiful orchestral music. There's just a soft spot in my heart for these beautiful, yet tragic and ultimately foreboding songs that just gives me chills down my spine. And this song seemed like it was tailor made for me. I have been hoping and waiting for a solo Luna song for so long and now I got my wish in a most glorious way of all. The darkness of the song filled with the sound of orchestral violins paired with her voice really made me remember why this character is my favorite. It also made me realize we need more Luna songs in similar contexts. Aloma Steel really has a great singing voice and this song really allowed her to shine in the bleakest light possible.

And that was my review for this episode. While it may not be the best adaptaion of a Christmas Carol I still really enjoyed it. It had the best music in all of MLP and really had me invested all the way through. It seems that MLP is slowly showing that you can go through six seasons wthout dropping in quality. I hope it can keep up the momentum.

I'll see you all agin soon, and as always: ALL HAIL THE PRINCESS OF THE NIGHT!

I've grown sick and tired of Scrooge's tale, so the second I figured it out, I dumped the episode.

3946247 Yeah, it can get a bit old, but I really liked this one. if not for nothing else then at least for that kickass Luna song at the end. Different tastes I suppose.

3946261 *looms over you with a jagged smile on face* I hate the singing.

I absolutely ADORED Luna's song! It reminded me of symphonic bands, like Nightwish, or Within Temptation.
Also, that wasn't Tabitha singing. The singing was actually done by Aloma Steele https://www.facebook.com/alomasteele/.

3946356 You have just cited my two favorite bands of all time. I know every Within Temptation song by heart (and I listen to them all the freaking time not ti mention that every story I wrote was slightly inspired by their music) and I love Nightwish (the Tarja era although Floor is pretty good too but I prefered her After Forever). It really did remind me of them as well and it just made me so happy to see I wasnt alone on this one. Also thank you for the correction. I She really did n amazing job with Luna though.

I am a bit of a Grinch myself when it comes to that. I too am getting sick of seeing another remake of that old, and should be dead, story.

The moment I too figures out what this story was copping from, I was so close to condemning the episode all together, just for that alone. But I didn't. Not entirely.

Yes, that part with Luna is mostly why I happened to like the episode. That, and the fact it was different enough from all the other copies of that old story, it stood out to me as good.

As far as a favorite song in the cartoon, to me would be This Day. The version of Smile on the video SMILE HD comes in a close second.
Fan made song as a favorite however for me goes to Lullaby for a Princess. :pinkiehappy:

But yes, I did like that song Luna sang on A Heart's Warming Tail as well. It made the episode well worth watching.

Well, that is good to know. Maybe I should get myself familiar with Within Temptation, just to set me in the right mood for reading your stories then. That is, if I find I like their music. But what I happen to like is vast and varied. So, probably, yes.
