If you like D&D stuff, or just tabletop rpg stuff in general, one of the people I follow online is trying to get funding to create something to sell for Dungeon Masters to increase immersion.

    Happy Holidays

This is your yearly reminder that I wrote a decently funny Christmas story in the long-ago times. If you haven't read it, you should! If you have read it, maybe you should just stick with blurred memories of how good it was.

    Books!

So, due to my high level connections here and there, I now have an advance copy of several highly sought after ponyfic books. Now that I've had a chance to check several of them out in person, I have to say that Ponyfeather Publishing does excellent work. Anyone able to pick one up, at Bronycon or ordering them afterward, should totally do so.

Last Week on City Of Doors 7/7/2019

So, I've actually been posting on my primary blog lately. Which has been nice, given that I've pulled myself out of depression enough to actually do stuff like that. So, here's been my daily content over there:

Another set of missions from our crazy resistance movement.

We've gotten information on where Big Mac is imprisoned! Apparently the aliens have kept him alive since they captured him so many missions ago. Team Review will be sent out to rescue him. Along with their sixth member, one "Ghost". Who got a promotion and decided he wanted to be one of the minigun and sword Raiders.

Was a tricky mission. Getting to Big Mac was easy, but getting out was much harder. Especially when I mistook which building roof the evac zone was. Ended up just running and left most of the enemy forces alive. A plan that almost never works, but did this time.

Team Review is sent out to destroy an alien relay of some sort. Since we are up to six person squads and team review is five people, decided to leave the sixth as a rotating opening at the moment. For this mission we are adding Ferret into the mix.

Protip for future missions: I should remember that PresentPerfect is the medic floating robot guy. Not the hacking floating robot guy. Ideally I should remember this before attempting to hack one of the scanners.

It's totally unfair that the enemy has grenades and even mortars. We should be the only ones with explosives! They get plasma cannons, zombies, and mind control. We get explosives. That was fair. At least the fancy new magnet shotguns are incredibly destructive.

Also, the mission was a failure. Unlike previous ones it wasn't because the whole team got wiped out. Was a time limit to stop the aliens from transmitting data. Which was eaten up in the cautious careful way Team Review was killing the alien forces.

John Perry has volunteered to be the first soldier run through our Psi lab for mental powers. We think it'll wipe his brain of all memories and experience. Apparently wiping all his memories of "the box" was the reason he volunteered.
(The game only lets you turn new recruits into Psychic soldiers. So I recruited a new John Perry because the game is letting me have duplicates and his was the only duplicate guy available of the current two team lineups, and dismissed the old one.)

Operation Magic Dirge
Retaliation mission. Team Pony (and horizon) are sent to assist one of the resistance camps that is under attack by alien forces.

First encounter with a berserker! Which didn't go quite as smoothly as I wanted, but still killed it with a minimum of fuss. The extra move when enemies are discovered once again saves me. It is probably the most useful mod I've got and solves one of the major problems with the game.

Scootaloo had a great idea of using concealment (she can more or less hide thanks to previous promotions that make her a ninja) and rescuing civilians while the enemy can't see her. I've done this before in other games and works great! Assuming that the first civilian you get close to isn't a Faceless that transforms and gives the soldier's position away. Anyway, Scootaloo was ordered to ignore the enemy and just run around rescuing everyone she could. Which was good because even with that we only managed to evacuate half of the civilians. Bit more than half really, given that one civilian is always a faceless and counts as 'killed' when revealed.

Oh, hey, the last civilian was another faceless. Which means I rescued seven out of eleven. Which is a decent result. Mission success!

Surprise, surprise. Not only did Horizon not hit much of anything (6-7 shots taken, 2 hits, both on Faceless) but everyone but horizon was wounded. So... We give him a promotion! I might have to talk to whoever is in charge of promoting soldiers. I'm not sure we should be rewarding this behavior. Cadance, on the other hand, is really enjoying her grenades. Boom! Boom everywhere!
