Second mission with team 2! Woo! Some big VIP needs kidnapping. Or killed. Let's go with kidnapping. That's always less messy. Second string team is thus: Rainbow "Awesome" Dash, Sweetie Belle, Ben "Pascoite" Baker, and The "Magello" Strongest. Yeah, the odds of someone as a casualty are pretty high. Which is going to hurt down the line since I've got a mod that actually keeps track of team cohesion. So I'll be doing my best to stick with the same teams for missions instead of mixing and matching randomly. That along with the lifetime stats tracking should give me interesting long-term development to watch.
Let's see who survives, shall we?
....
Well, that could have gone better. Um, I mean. The commander had a horrible prophetic dream where the entire team died and so when they were *actually* sent out on the mission it was ordered that under no circumstances was Rainbow Dash to shoot explosive barrels or Sweetie Belle to use grenades. Because apparently if you let them do that the entire team dies on turn three due to out of control fires and exploding vehicles. Well, except for Pascolite. He survived until turn four! Then ran right next to some enemies and got critical hit and died. So now I get to explain my usual method of play for this game. I'm okay with losing one or two soldiers, but I tend to redo missions that fail so catastrophically like this one. Basically I redo missions I fail, but if I succeed I don't care how many soldiers die.
Ahem. So. Team 2 is sent out to a isolated part of the country to grab a box from a enemy truck far away from populated civilian centers. Let's see who survives, shall we? (no shooting the explosive containers Dash. I don't care how 'awesome' it will be. It sets a bad example for Sweetie Belle and you know how impressionable she is).
Promoted to Insurgent, mostly because she really wanted grenades.
The only soldier to be wounded during the mission. Promoted to Specialist because she wanted a cool flying toy.
The guy that actually accomplished the mission objectives. Given a sword and promoted to Ranger.
Promoted to sharpshooter. Hopefully a sniper rifle will encourage him to not charge straight at the enemy.
As a extra bonus, we got a new engineer. Someone with a spanish-sounding name that insists on being called Aragon. We immediately put him to work sweeping and mopping up the place.
